Which SUV's have an extra third row?
Need a bigger car! Which ones have the extra third row? A mini-van is not an option.

I rented a GMC Acadia once, it has 3 rows. It was big without being too big if that makes sense

where are you looking for space at?
Some third rows are a gimmick as its impossible for a respectable size person to sit in those seats. Kids are a different story.
With that said, we got a Ford Flex. While we didn't need three rows, we were looking for leg space in the front and in back.
If you have a child, bring them with you and try out the carseat. We really wanted an Volvo XC60 but was tiny when we put in the car seat even though it was bigger then our previous.

I have the Pilot... you def have like NO trunk space with all 3 rows in use... I only keep the one seat up for my DS whos 5.. the other 2 are folded down so the stroller stays in the car and I have room for groceries and everything. But other than that I love it!

I have a Buick Enclave. Similar to GMC Acadia and Chevy Traverse (built on same platform).
Full sized 3rd row, can fit adults easily. Not all can. Some have no head space. We nixed a CX-9 because of the no 3rd row head space in comparison. We also nixed the Honda Pilot because its does not come with the option for Captain's chairs in the second row. It was a useless 3rd row vehicle since I need access to the 3rd row and with 2 carseats in the 2nd row, that was not possible. Captain's chairs were a must for 2nd row (7 passenger as opposed to 8 passenger).

My sister had a Nissan Armada which was the size of a mini bus and had a 3rd row seat yet she never ever used the 3rd row because it was absolutely impossible to get to. You had to fold down the 2nd row to get to the 3rd row which meant that you had to un-install the car seats to do it. And usually once you have a carseat properly installed you don't want to just take it out whenever. So instead noone ever used that 3rd row and it was pointless for her to be driving around such a huge car!
She now has a Trailblazer and we use the 3rd row seat more because the middle seat/console folds down without you having to move the carseats, and a smallish adult or a child can easily climb through there. So we do end up taking her car and loading the kids into the 3rd row so that we can all carpool together.
A lot of SUVs have 3rd row options but it really depends on who is going ot be using the 3rd row, the age of thie child, type of car seat going back there, and if any adults will be going back there too. I think you really have to try out a few options and don't be hesitant to ask to try out the 3rd row and let the child try it out also when you are car shopping!

I have a Pathfinder... It has a 3rd row, but you do have to fold down a seat in the 2nd row to get to it.

I have a X5 with a 3rd row option. In my opinion it's good for the occasional time you need to get a few more people/kids in the car for a short ride.

I have a Chevy Tahoe which has a 3rd row and I LOVE it. I can keep the 3rd row in and still have a normal amount of trunk space. It is a gas hog though!

I have a traverse and it has a third row that my 2 older kids sit in pretty much most of the time and I still have decent trunk space! I also think it's pretty good on gas.. :)

We have the Honda Pilot. I researched 3rd row seats to death.
When you're looking for an SUV with a 3rd row, something to consider is how large the middle seat is on the SUV (is it a true seat or like half of an @ss) and the leg room in the 3rd row seat.

We have chevy suburban. Its huge, but I have totally gotten used to it.
I wanted a third row AND to fit a double stroller and/bikes in the back.

My friend has the Toyota Highlander and is very happy with it.
We tested the CX9 and really liked it, but I honestly felt like getting into the 3rd row was really difficult and if we had two carseats in the middle row, we'd have to literally uninstall the seat to get in and out of the 3rd row so that's definitely something to consider.
I've heard great things about the Traverse, Acadia, and Enclave.

was this recently because we bought a 2012 and my dh is 6 feet and is just fine in the 3rd row of the CX9
I highly recommend it- it has a lot of standard safety items that are more $$ on other similar vehicles

Me too but id label it as a gimmick like a pp mentioned. Even 7 year olds are uncomfortable back there. I hate it!

I just traded in my x5 for an Acadia. The Acadia both 2nd & 3rd row have much more room. Also the trunk in the x5 was basically non existent when 3rd row was up. I have my large stroller in the Acadia trunk with room to spare.
