Re: Who won tonight's debate?
I spend a decent amount of time following the fact checker sites last night and this morning and to be fair the president had almost exactly the same amount of things that were not 100% true.

Who won tonight's debate?
Interesting that all the fact checking seems to be geared left. The left is always truthful, factual, never wrong. Sounds biased to me...check the facts of the fact checker...lol

That's fair - the sites I have seen so far do seem to either be geared to the left or focusing on Romney, so I would be interested to see a more robust fact-checking report.

Re: Who won tonight's debate?
I thought Romney absolutely won the debate. For me, job creation and the economy is the biggest issue in this race and I thought Romney outright schooled President Obama on the topic.
I'm hoping immigration is a topic covered in one of the following debates. I'm assuming it will be.

Re: Who won tonight's debate?
Romney - he kept the President of the defensive constantly.
I don't believe a single word that comes out his mouth, and he scares the hell out of me - but I have to say he did an excellent job debate-wise. -
Although, what was with that constant hidden smile he had on ANY time Obama was speaking? It was like he was desperately trying to hide a smirk or not laugh .......?

Posted by MandJZ I don't know how he and Paul Ryan keep getting away with claiming it would be 'too lengthy' to explain their plans.
Honestly, I just find it completely insulting at this point. I find it condescending. It is very, "Don't you worry your pretty little head about it, you wouldn't understand, let me handle it."
This is EXACTLY it !! I could never think of a way to explain it

To me, on top of being condescending, it's very 'man in the van with the candy'; "just trust me, I have something in here you'll like..."

Who won tonight's debate?
do we even have to ask this question. romney was much better prepared. obama looked like he was an intern at a business meeting getting yelled at by his boss. obama needs to work on his debating skills- without his teleprompter he is not all that convincing.

Re: Who won tonight's debate?
Romney seemed like an earnest student who memorized a bunch of facts and was too eager to get them all out, and he was pretty big ass to Jim Lehrer in my opinion.

And the fact that he condescends ands says if anyone wants a better insurance plan they can just go buy one, or send their kid to a better school if they don't like theirs. He doesn't understand that that's a luxury not usually afforded to the middle class. Proof positive in my mind that he's completely out of touch.

Re: Who won tonight's debate?
The American people lost. Because neither are up to par IMO.
Romney was better at showmanship & Obama was on the defensive. I was very suprised because Obama always struck me as a better speaker. It could be the nature of their positions. I would think incumbents have to defend their policies & the new guy in town can point to everything that was done wrong.
But I'm not voting based on showmanship.

If the next debate is like this one, he will win so many of the votes of the people who are indecisive about who to vote for. And if people are so "scared" of him, then move out of the country I guess.

I don't think I'll be moving out of the country thank you.
But I do have to agree (and again it scares me) that people will stupidly tip their vote in his favor not because they're hearing WHAT he's saying, or agreeing with it - but just because he seems to be a stronger presence. (I'm NOT saying that people who vote for Romney are stupid, I'm saying to decide your vote solely on how he handles the debate is stupid)
Just because I can objectively state that he won the debate, does not in ANY way mean I think what he had to say had any substance or sincerity. He just handled himself better, spoke better, was more assertive .......
The mediator was pitiful and had NO control over the situation. And Obama was on the defensive, partly b/c as the incumbent, it just is what it is, and partly because he was totally off his game last night.
I agree that Romney won, but I don't think he buried the President, or made him look terrible, or pointed out some major flaw that was previously unknown to voters.

Re: Who won tonight's debate?
Romney crushed Obama. Romney had a CLEAR, precise answer for everything. He was able to express himself and get to the point quickly. When you have two minutes (i know, neither stuck to two minutes on anything) you have to formulate your answer and express yourself quickly. I got lost in Obama's metaphors and "personal" experiences. He was a better dancer this debate than Palin was in 2008.
I had a VERY hard time following anything that Obama was "trying" to say. He seemed distracted, aggitated, not interested. TIRED.
It is always interesting to see how well a "good speaker" will do without a professionally written speech.
Romney was fresh, clear, energized.

I honestly don't know how anyone can think Obama won. He couldn't even make eye contract. That's pretty scary, considering he is the PRESIDENT.

I agree completely. Romney was polished, but that's not going to chane my opinion. If people are blinded by his showmanship but don't listen to what he's truly saying, then that's a bigger problem. I also think people are desperate to latch onto anyone or anything anti-Obama.
Jim Lehrer is the real loser if te debate, and I like him a lot, but not in that forum. He completely lost control.
Can I just say, Bill Maher for President

And let's not forget that Obama still has a job (POTUS) while Romney has not obligations other than campaigning. I'm sure Romney is getting a helluva lot more restful sleep that Obama is.
