Whoever suggested Mother's Milk TEa failed to provide me with one VERY important piece of information

that is tastes like CRAP...or black licorice...whichever you prefer to call it. Chat Icon

I absolutely HATE the taste of anise. HATE HATE HATE.

but for the love of Luce, I will drink it.

why couldn't it taste like chocolate Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I am also taking fenugreek. I am calling this my Hail Mary.

if I can't get any more production within the next week or so, I may have to give up. I am going back to work in 3 weeksChat Icon and have NOTHING for him during the day while I am gone thus far.

please say a few cheers for us. TIA

I have been using a heating pad before feedings/pumping, and it has helped. I am also taking the fenugreek & tea. I am taking the Milkmaid tea by earth mama angel baby, it does not taste great, but not to bad to get down either.

Have you tried it with honey?

I loved the tea. I drank 2-3 double cups of it a day. It absolutely did what it was supposed to do.

It's awesome that you are doing that for Luce.

i tried them both too...along with oatmeal, gatorade (but not too much or it will throw off electrolytes!), prayers, tears and pleading....but it didn't seem to do anything for me...dd has a high palate and just didn't want to nurse and i don't pump all that much....so she drinks my milk mostly and some formula now...Chat Icon

Re: Whoever suggested Mother's Milk TEa failed to provide me with one VERY important piece of information

I am convinced it all comes down to the baby. I had an awful time bf'ing ds. Most of the 14 months was a struggle and there were many tears involved. He was a lazy eater with a shallow latch.
Now with dd it is the complete opposite. I have at least twice as much milk and it is (dare I say it for fear of jinxing myself) easy Chat Icon . The reason I am telling you his is maybe your ds just does not stimulate the breasts enough to produce enough milk to keep him satisfied. All the tricks in the book might not work. So don't beat yourself up if you have to throw in the towel. Chat Icon Chat Icon

I didn't like it at first either, I usually drink it with honey and it makes it better. It started to grow on me.

Oh Jess, i know it's gross! I just posted about this yesterday... I just started drinking it yesterday morning and basically have to choke it down. It's nasty but i'm willing to try anything that will help build up my supply. Adding some sugar makes it a little more bearable! I'm drinking my 2nd cup today as we speak. Chat Icon

I know someone who swore by drinking a non alcoholic beer a night, the hops are supposed to be good for supply.

I tried everything and nothing helped, have you been to a lactaction consultant?

Try eating oatmeal. I ate 2-3 packs a day when I was pumping with Alex, it really made a difference for me.

I'm eating oatmeal every day too. my ped is also a lactation consultant and she's worked more on our latching issues, which are better now. but production is still LOW.

Jess, to increase production in addition to the fenugreek (2 capsules 3x per day - unless you start to smell like maple syrup you're not taking enough) and the tea, you have to nurse/pump more. In a different post you mentioned supplementing. If you want to increase your supply to BF, you have to stop supplementing. BM works on supply and demand - the greater the demand, the greater the supply. The more you supplement the less milk you will produce.

DD was EBF until 14 months when I introduced cow's milk 1x per day. She self weaned at 20 months. I went back to work when she was 12 weeks. It is possible if you work at it.

HOWEVER - if all the effort is making you miserable, give up. Happy mommy=happy baby.

I agree with eating lots of oatmeal. I ate a big bowl every morning and got alot out of each pumping session right afterwards.

I pump about 10-11 times a day, and I give Lucian the breast as well. I don't feel comfortable not supplementing his feedings when I know there is not enough. as it stands, I am draining both breasts every 2 to 2.5 hours.

did all of my negatives make a positive there? Chat Icon I am so. very. tired.Chat Icon

I add honey to it, which helps a little. Also, try More Milk Plus. it may work better than the tea. Chat Icon

I guess we are in the minority, because I actually like it. Granted, I put 2 teaspoons of sugar and a sh*tload of honey, but it's not too bad. Chat Icon

Hmmm...not sure if I should have read this post or not. I just ordered some of this stuff and got it in the mail today. Now I don't even want to try it. I HATE licorice Chat Icon!

I guess this is why my SIL was telling me she used tons of honey with it Chat Icon.
