I don't hate him I am just annoyed by hearing about him 24/7. I don't think he is all that just because he wears his religion on his sleeve. Great that he believes in a higher power and has morals but I really don't care that much and am sick of hearing about him and all the people that are doing the Tebow kneel thing.
ITA.
Also, really? You're crediting your TDs to God? Because he really doesn't have more important prayers to answer?!
as christians, we are taught to praise God for everything, small or large. i dont think tebow is saying that God made him get the touchdown, but God did bless him with the talent of football and for that i'm sure he is thankful.

Re: Why do people dislike Tim Tebow so much?
Personally, from what I know about him at this moment, I like him.
As for people hating him because he's not a good QB, I personally think that some of the blame should also fall on the rest of the team. I watched the last game they lost to New England and the poor guy was running for his life most of the game. His offensive line was not doing a very good job of defending him. Yes, there are some QBs who can still make lots of plays under incredible pressure, but he is still a fairly new NFL QB. They made it farther than a lot of people thought they would make it. And a QB can only be as good as the other players who are protecting him, giving him the time to make the plays.
As for people hating him because he talks about G-d. I think him talking about his faith is out of the ordinary (especially for big, tough football players). In a world where a lot of men have ESPN on their TV 24/7 listening to sports talk, it's strange to hear someone mention their faith. I don't think he talks about it too much, I just think people are nit-picking because you don't normally hear it at all... which makes it SEEM like he is doing it all the time.
As for people hating him because he gets down on his knee to say a little prayer during football games...I have a hard time understanding why people hate that so much. Is it because he is taking a second away from the game? I think more people in this world need to be thankful. You don't have to look very far to find people who can't walk, people who can't see, children who will never get a chance to play sports. I think it's wonderful that he is thankful for his ability. And I don't believe for a second he is doing it for publicity. He has ALWAYS been doing this and that fact that he doesn't stop just because there is more attention on him makes me think he is very thankful and sincere.
As for the family group that he supports that does not believe homosexuality is right. Guess what, I guarantee you that there are people that you know who don't believe homosexuality is right. As long as they are not spewing hatred, being discriminatory against anyone, or talking about it, I bet you still have them in your life. Until Tebow comes out and says terrible things about this, I have no issue with him. He can be pro-life just like I can be pro-choice. He's not out there stopping women from going into abortion clinics, it's just his beliefs. We all have them.
As for people hating him because they hear about him all the time. That's not really his fault, IMO. Hate the media who won't stop talking about him.
I'm going to read up a little more about the group he supports to see if my opinion changes. But for now, this is what I think.

agreed! and so what if he is pro-life or does not agree with homosexuality? those are HIS beliefs. i applaud the man for standing by his convictions.

Except for gays right? Don't praise them
Generally I'm willing to applaud someone who stands by their beliefs, even if I don't agree with them - EXCEPT when their beliefs deny basic benefits that are available to the rest of the country to a population of people.
If he doesn't agree with homosexuality, that's fine, then he shouldn't practice it. Here's some extrapolated portions of the organziation this guy represents:
-Homosexual behavior violates God's intentional design for gender and sexuality.
-While we do not believe an individual typically "chooses" his or her same sex-attractions, we do believe that those who struggle with unwanted same-sex sexual temptation can choose to steward their impulses in a way that aligns with their faith convictions.
-We affirm the Scriptural teaching that homosexuals can and do change their sexual identity (1 Cor. 6:9-11).
-We support counseling and the availability of professional therapy options for unwanted homosexual attractions and behavior.
You can counsel people not to be gay? Really? If a guy is a Boob guy, can you teach him not to be a boob guy? You can counsel them to not act on their impulses but is it realistic? Is that a life of happiness? It's against God's intentional design? God didn't tell me that. God told me to accept & respect others. To treat them the way I'd want to be treated.
Just imagine what this would be like for a woman in an abusive marriage: -We support specific types of "mutual-consent" legislation that would require both spouses seeking divorce to agree to end the marriage.
They teach abstinence in Teens. Now I'm not advocating teenagers having sex but how realistic is it? Frankly, I don't know one married person that did not have pre-marital sex. How did that work for Bristol Palin? Not only did she fully believe in it, she was raised by a family where abstinence was discussed regularly. How about teaching teens about being sexually responsible instead?
Honestly, I feel like this organization has its head in the sand. I cannot support or look up to an individual who represents an organization like that. You want to pray at games? That's fine. Did God tell you to do it on the sidelines? Was it in the Bible not to say your prayers in the locker room?

I didn't want to quote your whole post because it would have gotten really long.
I wanted to say that just because an organization stands for certain things does not mean that every follower agrees with everything they stand for.
I know an awful lot of Catholics that don't agree with everything the Catholic church stands for... yet they continue to go to church, continue to call themselves Catholic.
People seem to pick and choose what they agree with and don't agree with when it comes to organizations they support. And like I said, until Tebow comes out and says something to the effect of thinking it is OK to discriminate against gay people, I don't see anything wrong yet.

I'm not saying he is anti-gay but he certainly represents an organization that is.
I'm a buffet Catholic myself. However I wouldn't do ads for an organization unless I know what they represent.

That's the other thing. He's not very good either. Maybe he's right to thank God because every touchdown he makes seems like a miracle!

Exactly this! Tebow was a fourth stringer QB. Watch the ESPN guys and the former football players who are analysts now are less than impressed with his playing skills. As far as his constant kneeling, praying, and singing hymns on the field, I can see where his fellow players would rather he focus on the game instead of making a show of how devout he is. But hey, it gets the team a lot of free publicity. I also wonder if he would be getting so much "I think it's so wonderful how he expresses his love of God" if he was saying "Allah alim" or "Allahu Akbar". But that's a totally different thread.
