DH's job gives you no time at all!! if you want it you have to take your personal vaca time

The job I had when my grandma died gave one day. I thought that was ridiculous.

3 days is so unfair for the loss of a parent. My job has 5 days for parent, in-law, brother or sister. 3 for grandparent. 1 for aunt, uncle, cousin. It seems fair on the surface but it is unfair to assume that someone may regard an aunt very highly and one day would never be enough. That having been said as a manager if an employee lost a parent I'd probably extend it on my own and work out making up the time later.

So sorry your job is giving you a hard time-that's horrible!
I was thankful that when my dad passed my job was wonderful-they gave me as much time before his passing and after that i needed..with full pay!

I am so sorry for your loss. The company I worked for when my brother died had the same policy, but they never pushed it. I was out for a week and a half and I was paid for all of it. When I asked I was told the principal of the company over-rode policy for me. I was so greatful to him for that.

When my mom passed I took my 3 days off. My job asked me for DOCUMENTATION of the death when I returned to work.
My friggin pricipal came to the wake!!
I still had to bring in a copy of the funeral info.
It was insluting and crass.
I'm sorry for your loss.
I had to do the same thing for my grandfather's funeral. I had to get a copy of the death certificate and a copy of my plane ticket to prove to them that I wasnt going on vacation in Florida  It is insulting. They give us 3 days, but they arranged my schedule so I could have 5 days off.
I think it really is insulting to ask a bereaved person for a copy of a death certificate.
