I would want to work part time or something. My real dream would be able to go back to school to get my PhD and become an adjunct college professor!

no. not right now, at least.
if we had oodles of cash and I had a good allowance id consider it but right now I make good money and I spend it how I choose to. Dh NEVER questions my spending. Ever.
I like it this way and I think id be giving up some of my spending liquidity if I relied on him 100%.
But like I said if we were THAT rich and I had my own allowance, I'd consider it, but I honestly do not think the day will come that we will be that wealthy.

I could see myself staying at home for a couple of years, while my children were young. Personally, I couldn't stay home otherwise. Then again I have the best of both worlds right now, I work from home.

I would consider being a SAHM but I would never stay home without kids. I've started teaching college courses online though, so if I do take time off for kids I will be able to still teach while being at home.  Best of both worlds! I went to school waaayyyyy too long to do nothing before I have kids.

I agree with this- besides my DH would never say that to me- there is no reason for me not to work- I have a great job and make great money
all of my friends work- so who would I hang out with all day-
I like to have my own money- it was something stressed to me growing up- you just never know- my Mom saw alot of her friends end up in bad situations with no way out b/c they never worked

It won't be an option for me, and that's fine. But if I could work part time and stay at home part time when the baby is here, then I would be happy doing that. I love being a teacher but I take home so much work that a full time position seems like more than full time, so a part time position would probably still be a full time amount of work!

I'd stay home until my kid(s) were enrolled in some type of daycare/preschool part time. Then I'd go back to work part time, then back to full time when they went to school full-time. I'd only stay home for the kids though, I could never just be a SAHW.
I think DHs sometimes THINK they want their wife to stay home...but they'd get sick of it pretty quick.

I am not one of those people whou would say "oh my god, I would go out of my mind, etc"
I would definately stay home and be happy doing it. Since working this job I have had ZERO time in making my house a home, I never cook bc I get home at like 10PM and I feel I would be able to do more for my family.
I WOULD LOVE IT!

I hate getting up every morning and going to work but I think I would go crazy in the house everyday. I was unemployed for a few months a couple of years ago and I remember being so bored and being on such a bad sleeping schedule. I am sure I would not mind it for awhile but I think I would go cazy after awhile!

My husband has said i can quit, but i know if i did he would make me feel guilty about it. And I would also feel guilty staying home while he is hard at work. There is no reason that I cant work, I just hate it. and I do make good money. I will definitely be a SAHM though.

I would definitely have made the same choice as you instead of spending 2 years away from DH! Yours is a unique situation.

But I certainly dont"just stay home"
I take care of my home&family in every way....harder than I thought it would be,
I havent sat down just to watch TV since before my kids were born. Not complaining, because personally I would take this over working any day!

Yes but I would find something else to do with my time like volunteer at the Church or the hospital. I cant stay home and watch TV all day, I'd die of boredom!

I did cause of the baby but I kept my real estate license and I also work part time at night I just started and I watched my nephew for awhile so I guess you can say I work here and there not full time 5 days 40 hours like I used to.
