Re: Would this bother you( Ped related)

Yes it would bother me bc I would wonder what other info that had wrong in his files or in their files. If you like the doctor and don't want to change, I would talk to the doctor about it. These are sloppy errors on the part of the support staff and need to be addressed by the doctor or doctors if they care about their practice (and the kids). I would want to see his file to be sure they have the vaccination info correct. ITA. There are tons of people with the same last name that are not related, so you'd think this is a controllable issue. (You can't tell me they have only one Smith...KWIM?) In our Ped practice there are a few kids with our last name, which is a very common Italian last name when not hyphenated, and we have yet to have an issue like that.

I'd definitely mention it
My father and I have the exact same name - first and last, except for middle initial - and we constantly have to check records for mixups

Re: Would this bother you( Ped related)
Def worth saying something - it could be a real problem in the future.
I was surprised when I called my endrocronologist to make an appointment and they said "Stephanie or Jessica" - now I know my husband's cousin goes to my MD and I should not know that. I mean it's just an endo, but what what if she wanted her medical condition private?
I think MD offices need to be particularly careful!

Re: Would this bother you( Ped related)
I would be very concerned about it .... vaccinations, medications, allergies, previous health issues, etc ..... you could have potentially had a very serious problem had you not caught it.
I would actually send a written letter to the doctor with your concerns and follow up at next appointment.
What if you gave the wrong dosage of a medicine? Or he got a vaccine twice?
It's unacceptable and his support staff definitely needs to be spoken to and be more diligent in the future.

Re: Would this bother you( Ped related)
It would totally bother me. I had a similar incident at my ped. There are 2 joesph XXXXXX and they cancelled my appointment once when they called the other mother to confirm and she said she didn't have an appointment. Now I always make sure I give his bithdate and then ask if they are sure they have the right one. It's a pia but I figure it will help from any further confusion.

I would DEFINATELY mention it! They have to work harder to prevent any future mix-ups. Thankfully you noticed the meds were not for your DS and I don't know what they were or if it would be bad if you gave it to him this time, but what about next time?
My mom goes to a DR that has a patient with the same exact name and she always getting calls for the other patient....test results, everything. HELLO CONFIDENTIALITY!!!! They just can't get it right so she no longer goes there.

I agree -- this was my first thought...remember how our old ped tried to give Lucas a second dose of a shot he already received because it wasn't written down on the file - fortunately they make sure to charge for every shot so it was in the computer...but I had such a horrible back and forth to stop them from doing it....imagine what could happen with mistakes on identity
