I would wait to seee if you go on your own before scheduling a c section. You could deliver way before 40 weeks, and the baby be not so big. My son came at 36.5 weeks and was 6lbs 14 ounces.

You must be due around a holiday. Near Christmas, right?
I've noticed alot of this scheduling c-sections for "too big" babies especially when women are due around holidays. Very convenient for the doctors, major surgery for you. That's not that big for 36 weeks.
I'm due Dec. 20, so I guess that's close enough to xmas to make it inconvenient for the doctor if I do go into labor. Or god forbid if I ran late and the doctors get called in on xmas day! :)
I had the c-section scheduled for Dec. 12 'cus the baby was breeched at 34 weeks. He's now turned and the doctor gave me the option of having the c-section anyway saying that the baby may be 8 lbs. and make it hard on me to deliver... hm...
Definitely close enough. I would watch this situation. You are going to have to stick up for yourself if you don't want to have a C-section. That is IF you want to give yourself and your body a fair chance at labor. You may not and that is perfectly fine too. Or you may just want to wait for another growth sono or two and then make the call. Just make sure YOU are making the decisions - it's your body, your recovery - holiday or not.
My SIL is 5 feet on a good day and at her growth sono at 36 weeks they said the baby was 6lbs 2 oz and might be too big for her to deliver naturally by the time her due date came around. She ended up going into labor naturally 3 weeks early (at 37 weeks) and needed a c/s but because the cord was wrapped around the baby's neck, not because of size. The baby was 5lbs 11oz. It's amazing how sometimes our bodies know what exactly what they are doing if we just give them a chance.
