FTWM....he's in bed by 7:45 pm tops, but I try to make it 7:30 or earlier.

that's by his schedule not mine. I make it work b/c later is NO GOOD for him for us.

FTWM and my 4 month old goes to bed at 8pm. Our routine starts at 7:15 or 7:30 and she is sleeping by the latest 8:15 till about 7:15am. I would have her on a 7am-7pm schedule but my DH would never see her since the earliest he is home is 7pm.

Well in my case she is only 9 months and by 7 pm she starts rubbing her eyes and getting unholy cranky!

So I don't really have a say in the matter!

Right now I am a SAHM to 8mth old twin boys. In order to get the 7pm bed time we had to do CIO. I was totally against it all at first but my boys wouldnt go to bed until 10pm and I couldnt take it anymore so my ped told me to choose a bedtime and CIO....it has been 7pm ever since!

im a FTWM and DS goes down around 7-730

i get home with him at 6. He has dinner, play for 15 mins, has a bath and its 7pm. I get him ready for bed and he has a bottle, we read a story. He is out by 730. On days that he doesnt have a bath, he is out by 7-715...

nothing else (dinner, cleaning) happens until after he is asleep.

Re: Wow... such early bedtimes!!!

2 FTW parents in our house - I get home with DD between 5:30 and 6. DH is usually home before me and we eat dinner (he makes it) together. If he's working late I make dinner for DD and DH and I eat later. DD is in the tub by 6:45 and in bed by 7:30. We have to be out the door before 7 AM every morning so if I put her to bed any later she would not get the sleep she needs. That's just how it is.

Re: Wow... such early bedtimes!!!

FTWM and FTWD here - i get home by 5:30 latest (with Emma) and Dave, two days a week isn't home until 9:30 - 10:00.... (it used to be 3, but he got a new job).

em's bedtime is determined by her actions & signals. it's not usually before 11 and sometimes as late as 1.

when we are home with her the following day (weekends, or when dave is off) - she will sleep a minimum of 12 hours - sometimes as high as 14 hours (though there has been a random day when she'll sleep 15 or 16).

on days when she goes to the sitter, she'll be woken up with only 9 or 10 hours of sleep but then she'll take a huge nap at the sitter's.

we are night people - so this doesn't surprise us at all...

Re: Wow... such early bedtimes!!!

I'm a FTWM too and I get home by 3:30 the latest, so DD and I have plenty of time together thankfully! She gets her last bottle at around 9 pm and starts to doze off from time to time around 8:30-9:15ish. I change her before this time, around 8:15 for the night and then if she's sleeping I just sneek the bottle in her mouth. Sometimes she wakes up during the feeding, but she usually falls right back to sleep. So let's say her bedtime is about 9:30.

Re: Wow... such early bedtimes!!!

Oh, wanted to say WOW to all the parents who get their kids to bed around 7:30/8! That seems so early to me and I feel like if DD were to go to bed at that time she'd be up the next day at like 5am! What time do your kids sleep until when they go to bed that early? Was he/she always a good sleeper?

Same here!

And I'll also say that for us, we HAVE to plan dinners ahead of time to make this work (buy on Sunday, prep if necessary, sometimes crockpot dinners). So DH picks up DD, we all eat, DH gives DD a bath, I clean up the kitchen, we both put her to bed...then DH and I have the rest of the evening to ourselves

Re: Wow... such early bedtimes!!!

My kids were never early to bed or early to rise. It's just how they worked their schedule.. They are in bed between 8-9 p.m. now (due to school) and I have to wake them at about 7 a.m. to get ready for school.

We don't eat dinner until 6, so there is no way bed time can be earlier than 8 at this house.

I'm a FTWM. We start DS bedtime routime (bath, etc.) around 8:00 and he is in bed by 8:30. I ususally am not home until 7:00 so I could not do an earlier bedtime.

Re: Wow... such early bedtimes!!!

When my kids are your age I think the bedtimes will be the same - but yes, work schedule has a lot to do with it. I am home by 4pm, DH is home between 2 and 5pm. Plus my kids are raving lunatics if they don't get at least 12 hours of sleep - and they are NOT the type that will sleep in if they go to bed later!

Re: Wow... such early bedtimes!!!

I think all kids have different sleep needs. Riley needs her 12 hours, and since we have to be out the door before 7:30, she has to get to bed by 7. I'm almost jealous of those who have kids that can go to bed later and still wake up early the next day....like I said, almost.Chat Icon I'm lucky enough that I get to pick her up at 3:30 every day. It stinks for DH though since he walks in the door at 7.

Re: Wow... such early bedtimes!!!

I am a SAHM now, but when DS was born I worked FT. We set DS's bedtime around 8:30-9pm. Its what worked for us so that we could pick DS up, have dinner and have some time with him before bed.

He is now 3.5 and I am home FT, and we recently moved his bedtime up to 8/8:15 only because he stopped napping.

Re: Wow... such early bedtimes!!!

FTWM here. The twins (19 months) go to bed at 7:30. I come home at 6 and the babysitter has already fed them so I just play with them until bedtime or give them a bath and put them to bed.

DS who is 5 goes to bed at 9 but usually later on the weekends. He's always gone to bed late. he used to stay up until 10 but now that he's at pre-k 5 days a week, he's tired by 9.

Re: Wow... such early bedtimes!!!

FTWM - I get off work at 4. Pick up DD get home at 4:30 she usually goes right in for a nap for about an hour.

When she wakes up I give her dinner and start cooking for DH and I. He gets home around 6:45-7. We eat and clean up.

Then we all hang out for a while and around 7:30-8 DD gets in her Pjs (bath if it's bath night) bottle and then to bed. If she is cranky she will go down earlier.

Re: Wow... such early bedtimes!!!

Yes I am WAHM, but DH doesn't get home until 6:15 - thats when we eat dinner and then they pretty much go to sleep after dinner. They are almost always in bed by 7:30... they are 2. DD2 is only 5 weeks, so no real bedtime there!
