Re: WWYD? christening related...

depends do you have time to cook for 110 people with the baby? If you can and think it will save you alot of $$ then why not.

Make: baked ziti, penne al vodka, lemon chicken, sausage and peppers.. these are things that my family has at parties.

Re: WWYD? christening related...

I would have it catered. If it's out of your budget, can you have some close family bring different dishes? that way, you can cook up a few trays of food and they can each bring some too?

How much is too much for you? I can recommend a few places I've used? Chat Icon

ETS if you want to lower costs, how about cooking a few things and then getting a caterer to make a few things?

110 people is alot to cook for, I think by the time you buy all the food it will be alot of $. Not to mention all the work, unless of course, you have some family and friends to help you out.

I would maybe get a few trays of food but make your own salad and appetizers.

Good luck!

well my mom and I have cooked for that many, we are good too!! LOL we laso have a huge freezer so we freeze a llt he pans and then defrost a day or two before...i would say cook a few things like ziti, maybe swedeish meatballs, eggplanty parm, then order a hero and salads etc...it is WAY cheaper to cook!!!

Re: WWYD? christening related...

Honestly, I was going to cook some for DSs christening and order some. It turned out to not be as expensive as I thought it would be so we catered everything and it would have been sooooooooooo much trouble if I did it myself!! Price a few places and see.

Cooking for 110 people really isn't THAT bad. You will have several trays of different options, so each tray doesnt have to be enough for 110 people, KWIM?

ETA: here are some ideas..

garden salad, chicken francese, chicken marsala, chicken parm, penne ala vodka, rigatoni bolognese, rigatoni with sausage and broccoli rabe, veal, sausage and peppers, tomato and mozzarella, string beans in garlic oil, asparagus wrapped with bacon....

Re: WWYD? christening related...

I would def have it catered, but I would make the easier dishes like ziti, salads (pasta and greens), etc. What about a bbq????

FOr me - cooking for that number of people would give me a nervous breakdown Chat Icon but, if i could handle it and still enjoy the event - i would go for it to save the money!

Re: WWYD? christening related...

Honestly by the time you get table & chair rentals & get plates etc for all those people, it costs around the same to have it in a restaurant. JMO.

This is why we had DSs Baptismal & his first b-day catered. The cost to rent a tent, tables, chairs etc for 100 people is more than what I paid at a restaurant.

Re: WWYD? christening related...

Id have it a restaurant. Its not so much the cooking, its the cleaning up after the party!
