WWYD (jewelry gift related)

ok, I am having a conundrum, and I am hoping y'all can help.

DH and i are in a bad financial place right now... his paycheck didnt go through, and we need money.

Now, I have this ring.. its a very pretty aquamarine and diamond ring, worn it once... I am debating whether to sell it.

The story behind this ring....

It was given to me by a guy I used to date... as a wedding present. Mind you, he is married too, I was a guest at his wedding in 2007.

Now some of you may get upset wtih me for asking, but I feel really weird wearing it, as it ONLY fits my ring finger, but I am trying to figure out what to do.

Re: WWYD (jewelry gift related)

It is a BEAUTIFUL ring. I would be very tempted to keep it.

But considering you're having financial difficulties, a beautiful ring doesn't put food on the table. See what you can get for it. It's like it came from your parents or DH and has sentimental value.

very pretty & unique!

if you wanted to keep it, but desperately needed the money, I wonder if you can try a pawn shop? That way, you may be able to get it back when you can, but can get some money for it in the meantime. (hopefully)

I would definitely see what you can get for it - that would be the deciding factor for me. It's very pretty though!

Re: WWYD (jewelry gift related)

Keep it

I have found you get next to nothing for jewelry anyway and it won't last you. You can find other stuff.

The ex thing doesn't bother me in the least. My ex is a big part of my life. Still love the guy. Hubby knows of him and we've all gone out to dinner before him and his wife, me and my hubby.

An Ex doesn't have to mean awkward relationship forever. Heck for us it means stronger relationship because we KNOW each other more than just friends could have. Deep understandings of loves and what's important to us. Things you really only explore and share with those you are involved with. And both of us respect each other.

So Meh on that part

Keep the ring. Keep looking for other stuff to unload or better yet, seriously cut back on other things. You'd be surprised how PB&J for a month can save SOOO much. generics, etc. Pass on things you seriously don't need, etc. Tighten your belt. If you're talking ring vs food stamps then Id probably consider it. maybe..

Re: WWYD (jewelry gift related)

It is a really pretty and unique ring. I'd probably try to sell it if you don't want to wear it on the other hand that you don't wear your wedding band and e-ring on. Rather than a pawn shop maybe try to sell it on e-bay?

You might not get much for it, but if it were me (I'm not selfish but I do like unique jewelry to begin with) I'd probably keep it - especially if you're friends with the ex and he invited you to his wedding and such.

I would sell it for sure, especially since you and your DH need the money.

Re: WWYD (jewelry gift related)

I'd see what I can get for it. I sold a bunch of jewelry and got a really good chunk of money for it. If it's not enough then hold onto it.
