They asked my DH to leave but I didn't want him to and pleaded with the nurse to let him stay - so they did.

My DH was the person who I leaned onto while they gave me my epidural. I was so glad to have him there!!! I am deathly afraid of needles and started crying the minute they walked in to give me the epi. Funny thing is it was nothing!!! By the time they were leaving I was calling the Dr. my dealer!!

He had to sit down on the other side of the room or leave. This was at Winthrop.

I had my DD at Winthrop, DH was not asked to leave during the epi. I was in so much pain and dilusional, they actually asked him to help me thru it with the nurse. I wound up with a c/s and he was not allowed in for the spinal.

I think the difference is if its a Natural birth vs. C-section.
I have never heard of a DH allowed in the room while they prep( epidural) a mom for a c/section.
I would assume with natural birth theres more leeway.

I had a scheduled c-section and a spinal. DH was not with me when they preped me. They told him they would get him when I would be ready. I delivered at Winthrop.

I delivered DD at St. Catherine's and DH stayed with me in the room. He was standing in front of me, but I can't remember if they asked him to go there or if he did it on his own.

I had a spinal for my c-section and they wouldnt allow DH in O.R. until anesthesiologist was done.

I am trying to figure out why all these hospitals asked your dh's to wait outside.....I never even thought about DH not being there with my every step of the way. I would have flipped if they told him he had to leave....

Yes, DH was allowed to be in the room. And thank God, because I really needed his support (had to have it done 2x since the first one the guy messed up  ).
ETA: This was at NSUH Manhasset.

My dh was in the room, as was the nurse. I seem to remember the four of us chatting, but I was lucky in that the procedure went easily and painlessly for me. I think they did ask that he sit off to the side of the room, though. I'm glad he was allowed to be there because it quelled some of my nervousness.
