Rhogam shot

I am going to need this shot at 28 weeks.. I have A negative blood type, so to potentially avoid mixing my blood with the baby's should his/hers be positive, this shot is necessary.

Seems like a pretty common procedure.

Did any of you guys go through this?

Re: Rhogam shot

Yep, I got it at 28 weeks and after the birth of my son. I also got it at 28 weeks this pg and pretty sure I'll be getting it after this guy is born.

Re: Rhogam shot

Do you know your husband's blood type? If he is negative too then you don't need the shot.

I need to find out his blood type, he does not know it. I heard that regardless of DH they advise you to take it, unless any of you have heard differently.

I will definitely re check again.

i had it too, it was no problem. Also I had to have it after I gave birth because my son has a different blood type.

You only need to take it if your DH is positive. So find out before you get the shot, it might be unnecessary for you!

Ive had it with all of my pregnancies. I am O- and all my girls & son are O+...it's no biggie, just a shot in the rump..

You are right. They do recommend that you have it regardless of what your DHs blood type is. They are leaving room for the few Rh- Mommies who have been less than faithful...

they don't do it that way.

and for the sole reason that you could be lying about who the father isChat Icon think if you had an affair but DH doesn't know and that man is positive but DH is negative. it puts you and your future babies at risk so anyone who is negative gets the shot.

if you are negative you WILL get the shot regardless of your husband--they never even tested my DH

it's no big deal--i got one shot at 28 weeks and another after DS was born. it's just a regular shot.

They made us find out DH's bloodtype. But, I was going to have to get the shot regardless of what his bloodtype was. So, I had it at 28 weeks. When the baby is born they will test his bloodtype and if he is opposite of mine, I will need another shot. If not, then I don't need the 2nd shot and the dr. said the first shot didn't matter if we have the same bloodtype.

I had the shot at 28 weeks and was told I'd have another after the baby is born.
