This is a great idea!!! I'll start with my questions issues! This is truly my last option!
DS was born March 9. He was 5 weeks early. He spend 8 days in NICU due to a lung infection. Therefore they bottle fed him my pumped milk for that time. The first day I got to put him to the breast was the day we were taking him home. He latched on pretty well at first using a shield. But the at home he was on and off. So I pumped constantly. The doc wanted to watch how much he was eating so I started exclusively pumping. I had planned to do this for about a year, even when I return to work. But that might not happen now.
The last 2 weeks my supply has totally decreased that I have to supplement with formula more then 1 bottle.
I drink a ton of water, I have tried More Milk Plus for about a week now with no results. I am gonna try the Fenugreek pills next.
Is it possible I may not be eating enough while trying to lose baby weight?
I am so upset that I just don't know what else to do here.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!
It is definitely possible that you're not eating enough. Also, what kinds of food are you eating in general? I realized that I wasn't eating enough and what I was eating wasn't nutritionally sound. Once I changed my diet, my supply increased and the weight is now coming off.
Also, try pumping to increase your supply. That is the only thing that has worked for me.

I have the same problem. Every time I nurse poor DS gets soaked because my letdown is so forceful he pulls off & gets sprayed in the face. I try pumping before feedings when I feel really engorged & I am able to pump about 3 ounces in just a couple of minutes... & when I nurse DS still sounds like he's drowning the way he gulps. I had this problem with DD too & it eventually worked itself out. As my supply leveled things slowed a little & as DD got older she was more able to handle the fast flow.
I had this in the beginning as well. DS would cough/choke because my letdown was so forceful. Eventually, it slowed down.

I have a question now too. My DD had no problems taking a bottle while I was away. DS is refusing bottles. He has taken a couple ounces twice after a long fight with DH, but sometimes he flat out refuses. Any tricks to convincing baby to take a bottle? I go back to work part-time at the end of the month.
DS fought the bottle in the beginning, also. We found that he did best with a wide neck bottle and nipple. We switched to the Born Free bottle and DS doesn't fight the bottle anymore. Maybe your DS wants a nipple that is more like yours.

how does this change nursing? when will i see a difference in how many times per day i nurse or how much etc??
It hasn't changed nursing for me at all. BM should be the main source of nutrition for the first year. Introducing food at this point is to get the baby used to textures/tastes. My ped said that if DS starts to take less BM to cut back on the amount of solids given. I am still nursing about 3 times a day and DS gets 2 bottles while I'm at work. I also make sure that I pump as much as I can. Now that DS is sleeping through the night, I pump right before bed so that my supply is still up.

I have not been on in a long time! glad i stopped by.. i have a question.. my right nipple after pumping has a white crusty looking stuff on it when done pumping.. i have no symptoms of thrush and have had this for over a month... i assume it is dry skin based on the way i can pick it of (so to speak).. or it is dried milk that is traped in my nipple after being sucked by the pump?
any one have this.. any ideas?

I am really big breasted... 38 H  
I use nursing tanks during the day/night at home... LOVE THEM... I got them at Target.....
For nursing bras I use Bravado.... they offer AWESOME support without and underwire which you really don't want to use because they can cause clogs and a bunch of other breast issue....

hmm interesting.... You only get the crust when pumping??? DOes it appear any other time? Usually the white crust means thrush... Do you have any other symptoms? red itchy painful nipples?? Shooting pains???

I haven't started food yet, but my pediatrician gave me a whole packet on starting solids. Formula fed babies can eat food either before or after the bottle, but BF babies should nurse first and then eat solids.

I would contact your LC.....they have mnore experience with these types of boob issues... I'm not sure what it is! Let us know what you find out!

I get the same thing..if I pick at it, it actually flakes off..TMI sorry. What I do is let the water run on it in the shower, then hand express a little, and it goes away. I think it's just dried out/trapped milk..I've had it the whole time I was BFing, and now exclusively pumping.
This thread is a great idea!
I can help with:
-flat nips
-the good, the bad & the ugly of nipple shields LOL.
-latch issues
-BFing thru a supposed dairy allergy
-Exclusively pumping & bottle feeding expressed milk

ugh i feel so freakin defeated..it didnt work ANY better for me..i dont understand!?!?! I fed her all day so i OBVIOUSLY have my milk supply back at least somewhat right?!?! Girls, i literally barely filled up the bottom of the bottle...wth am i doing wrong?!?!!  I said to my dh tonite that i really hope i dont have supply issues with the next baby because i dont think i could EVER do this again..
does this happen with every child? If your milk supply is low is it always low?
What am i doing wrong?!?!

i just had a thought, well i had it at 4am when my dd woke up whining but THATS another thread 
obviously im not used to feeding her at 9pm, her last nursing is usually at around 7..and then not again until the morning..so uh, maybe THATS why im not pumping anything at nite?!?!
G'd im such an idiot at this..this has really been the hardest most challenging parenting issue ive ever had..and i have a ten year old, so imagine how many times i could messed HIM up already! 
Shes napping, and dh is off to work right now..im gonna try it again,..,

i will share this:
when preg with #1, i had no idea about anything (who does?) so when asked if i was going to BF, i said, uh, i guess, i dont know....
luckily, i had a cousin who was an advocate, and a sister who had a rough time with it (which made it nice bc she always said, DO it, do it as long as you can, if you can, bc some women just CANT)...
the biggest and BEST piece of advice that my cousin gave me was this:
sum, it is going to HURT!! you are going to want to GIVE UP! youll get an infection once in a while, youll get plugged ducts....but pull through it- remember that all women go through the pain for the first 3-5 weeks, and after that, it is smooth sailing....
and i thank God that i had her- it DID kill, it BURNED like crazy when she latched, i got the WORST plugged duct 2 weeks into it (do not wear a tight bra when your boobs are full of milk!!)
but bc she had WARNED me of all of this, i was so prepared....and i fought through it all- fed hannah for a year, and emerson is 1 on saturday and she is still BFing...(i cannot wait to stop, i swear, i am done.....after her bday she is CUT OFF!! lol- i figure its time to cut them off when she is clawing at my shirt, trying t pull it down, in public in front of other people!! )
so, that is what i will offer- what my cousin offered me- i feel like no one TELLS you about the pain, that babies just latch and it feels normal and everything is all good....
and ps- the colostrum that comes out those first few days IS enough for them- they dont need anything more than that, so dont think they are hungry and then give a bottle or anything- it is enough, it is the way nature intended (if they NEEDED milk right away, you would PRODUCE it right away)....- so yes, if u are going to BF, the colostrum is enough, and no, they arent hungry....
thats all i got- hope this helps SOMEone....

i just wanted to thank you for posting this..they had me so convinced in the hospital that my dd wasnt getting enough because of her weight loss, my ped wasnt affiliated with the hospital i delivered at so he couldnt help me win my battle..he wasnt concerned AT ALL with what she lost and said it was toally normal for a BF baby to lose that amount..they MADE me FF to supplement or they wouldnt let her come home..
i KNEW it had to be crap

I am glad this thread is here too! It totally refueled my goals of breastfeeding!! I started EBF and nursing, but the pain was so bad I went out and bought a pump. Is it possible that my nipple is so large that she cannot get her mouth around it enough? Every nursing session, I had the "lipstick" looking nipple which just confirmed we were no good at latching at that time... I gave up nursing because at this point (3 1/2 weeks) I only had 2 1/2 weeks left at home before work...
SO.. I have been pumping and feeding now, and I still have a good supply, if not GREAT supply!! I can pump out usually 10 ounces each sitting.. but here is what is happening now... My left breast is producing TWICE as much as my right... is this strange? What can I do to fix it? My left breast gets engorged in just an hour!!!
Anyway.. Just wanted to add... I was originally so ANTI breastfeeding... until I started and realized the benefits for both DD and me... and when I started pumping and feeding, it just made my life easier... DH can feed her, my parents can watch her and feed her... so it took a lot of the pressure of always having to be home off of me... and a lot of people try to make me feel guilty that I am missing out on the special bonding of nursing... I feel whatever works for you, great!!! As long as DD is getting my milk ,she is getting the same benefits, and I feel that we STILL bond when I feed her... so the guilt is now gone!

Good for you for doing what you are doing! 
As far as different output, that is completely normal! It is going to sound a little backwards but you might want to pump a little less on the left side to reduce how much you are getting (if that is what you want). The more you pump, or nurse, the more you will produce.
