Breastfeeding
Did you breastfeed with twins?
Is it hard like everyone says its going to be?
Do you put one baby on each boob?

I breastfeed for the first 4 weeks and now I am pumping. I am not sure which I find easier, but it is stressful and sometimes I get extremely frustrated and want to stop.
Each twin gets 20 mins on each side or if I pump they each get 4 oz. (they are 6 wks old)

I exclusively pumped. It was time consuming and wometimes stressful but worth it for me. I did not have the pateince to nurse them both-it took FOREVER. I did tandem nurse once or twice but pumping just worked better for me. You should FM CJMommy-she EBF's twins. They are almost 8 months now

I have been wonderign this too. with a 2 yr old, I just have no clue how it will be possible and may just pump as long as I can.

I've been exclusively nursing my sons and it gets easier as time goes on. I was lucky that both of them are very efficient and I produce LOTS of milk. I think that is due to the fact that I don't supplement and hardly pump so they are always on the breast. Every time they nurse I switch boobs from who had it last so that the boob doesn't get used to one baby and that they are pretty even in making milk. I'm going strong at 8 months and it just gets easier and easier. It can be done :)

no i do not switch boobs, they only get 1 boob at each feeding.

I agree it just gets easier as time goes on. I switch boobs each day though. So one day DD will be on the left and DS will be on the right. Then the next day DD will be on the right and DS on the left.
In the beginning I was switching with each feeding but it got too confusing.
If you are planning on BFing twins definitely get the EZ to nurse pillow, I wouldn't have been able to tandem nurse do it without that.
I'm not going to lie, in the beginning it was VERY hard. I was constantly feeding babies, 24/7, my life revolved around it. I didn't start tandem nursing until they were around a month old, and each one would take about an hour to eat in the beginning, so by the time I finished nursing one, it would be time for the other to eat again.
But I am so glad I stuck with it. Now at 6.5 months they are done in 5 minutes. I don't have to think about cleaning a million bottles.
I do give one bottle of formula at night and have since the beginning.

I am EBF my twins and have had no problems producing enough milk. I have the EZ to Nurse Twins pillow which is AWESOME and allows me to feed both at the same time... I do that once in a while if they are both screaming to eat at the same time... But it is hard not having free hands and handling both babies at once, so usually I do one baby at a time with a regular boppy pillow and they eat one after the other about 30 mins apart. It is challenging at times, but very worth it. They are now about 5 weeks old now and still take a while to eat, but it does get easier. I usually pump them a bottle for right before bed time to ensure they have a very big meal and sleep for as long as possible (this gets them to sleep for 4 hours at a time instead of the usual two-three hours), but the rest of the time they are on the breast. I do switch on and off which breast each baby gets that way if one breast produces more milk than the other, both babies get equal amounts. FM with questions!
