EBF Moms + Reflux and Milk Allergy
Hi,
I need help. I am suspecting my 1 week old who is ebf may have reflux and a milk allergy.
She spits up a lot and has diarrhea sometimes every 5 minutes. Also she will nurse sometimes for 3 hours straight but be sick and fussy the whole time. Is this what it sounds like?
Also, if you dc has a milk allergy what do you use as a milk substitute? Is Rice or Almond milk ok?

Re: EBF Moms + Reflux and Milk Allergy
DD has a milk allergy. I had to eliminate all dairy, soy, nuts, seafood and eggs, but I re-added eggs at 5 months.
You can use rice milk, which is okay. Coconut is good too.
Sounds like it can be a milk allergy. Try eliminating dairy and see if it helps. I would let the ped know.

A breastfed one week old is very likely to have frequent, watery and sometimes explosive bowel movements. If you want to eliminate dairy and see if that makes a difference, try it and see. I have tried soy milk, rice and almond milk. None of them seem to affect my DD but I like the taste of the almond milk best.
