Canister vs. Upright?

There are too many vacuums to choose from!!

We keep seeing canisters rec for hardwood but we also have a dog and a cat, so upright may be better???

Which do you have? Do you like it? Why or why not?

We have the Shark Navigator and really like it. It has two modes so you can use it on carpet or hard floors, and also has various attachments including a pet hair brush. It really does a good job. And there are no bags, it's so easy to empty the container. We got a great deal on it at Kohls with the sales and coupons they always have.

I love my canister vac. It is a Kenmore from Sears. It is so easy to switch the attachments.

Correct canisters for wood floors and uprights for carpet because the lack of the rubber wheels that most upright don't have.

i voted upright... bc thats what we have... but it kinda sux.... i havnt wanted to spend the money for a canister... when DW isnt around i just whip out my shop vac.... that thing will suck the cat out from under the bed!

Electrolux Oxygen canister with HEPA filter - love it.
Power brush for the carpet, then a push of the button and it can be used on wood floors or my persian rugs that can't take heavy suction. I also have a separate floor brush if I don't want to use the power brush.
All of the controls are on the handle - on-off, suction control, floor-carpet.

I hated my bagless upright. It was a Kenmore. Felt that it never properly cleaned the carpet or the floor, and left dust everywhere.
