Re: dog: blood in stool?
the last time i remember my dog having blood in his stool it was HORRIBLE (which it doesn't sound like your dog's is)... like he would go all over the floor and it would just be little puddles of blood mixed in with a little poo. we waited like a day or maybe two to take him to the vet - we fed him rice and chicken broth to see if it was just a stomach bug or something and when that didn't help we took him. he was old though so he was having a bunch of problems by then
how much blood is it?

Re: dog: blood in stool?
thanks for your response! it wasn't too much i have a bully and they can't reach their butts soooo, i have to wipe them with a baby wipe! sorry if too much TMI!!OL!
i noticed it on the wipe and then went out side to check her poop and it was the blood mixed w/the poop ...and i could c it but not a ton of blood and she's not dripping blood...i guess ill keep checking she only poops 1-2x a day so hopefully she'll go again lata so i can check! did you ever figure out why your pup had the blood in its stool?

Re: dog: blood in stool?
I would at the very least call the vet right away for a phone consult if I found any blood in my dog's stool. My vets are awesome, though, and will always tell me honestly whether or not it warrants an office visit.

Re: dog: blood in stool?
Yes, def call. It could be from the anal glands themselves, not coming from inside. I know they can get infected.
You may not know the answer to this but do you know if the anal glands look swollen or inflamed? Do you ever need to get them expressed? Has there been a food change recently?
I ask about the food because if their poops are good, a lot of dogs don't need their glands expressed. It happens naturally because of the consistency of the poop.

Re: dog: blood in stool?
Could be parasites. You should bring in a stool sample to your vet
