Polyp removal question
Hi, I was wondering if anyone had a uterine polyp removed by hysteroscopy only. My OB wants to do a D&C and I am trying to avoid that. Any doc recommendations? I live in the Huntington area. The doc thinks it could be the reason we haven't been getting pregnant.
Thanks!

Re: Polyp removal question
I had a polyp removed by hysteroscopy. It was a same day procedure in the hospital. My next cycle I did IVF (for the 1st time) and got pregnant. My dr was Dr. Kuokkanen at LI-IVF. FM me if u have any questions.
Good luck!

Re: Polyp removal question
I had that done by Dr. Brenner at LIIVF. He believed it might be the reason I was having problems getting pregnant. I sort of regret having had it done because I later found out by Dr. Braverman the REAL reason I wasn't getting pregnant. I would go to an infertility specialist first (I highly recommend Dr. Braverman) and then see if you need the polyp removed.
BTW, the surgery was a breeze. I went out to eat afterward.

Re: Polyp removal question
Thank you to the both of you. I called today and made an appointment with an RE instead of just going by what my OB said to do. I definitely want the second opinion now. If I can avoid the D&C part and just get the polyp out I will.
I wish you well on your journeys!

Re: Polyp removal question
YES! Definitely see an RE before you do anything. I had polyps in both my fallopian tubes. They were very high up and pretty much blocking them. My OB told me that they couldn't be removed without damaging the tubes and that I would need to do IVF. I went to see an RE (I live in NC, or I would recommend him to you) who removed them by doing a hysteroscopy. It was an easy, same day, procedure and I ended up getting pg with twins (on femara and ovidrel) two cycles later. OBs, just don't specialize in these matters and usually don't really know what they are talking about.
GL!

Re: Polyp removal question
I had a hysteroscopy done earlier ths month for polyps in my uterus. It was a same day procedure and not bad at all. After we left the hospital, we went food shopping. I am seeing Dr. Richlin from RMA, but the CT office, they also have one in the city and Garden City. Good luck!!!
