Death Penalty- Pharmacy shooter

In CERTAIN circumstances I believe in the death penalty.

There are TOO many innocent people who are on death row, I think we all can agree to that.

But when I see someone like this..... AND like the men who raped and killed the family in CT...

I have no problem (after they have been convicted in a court of law) to fry them.

In THIS case, I hope they seek the death penalty. I have no sympathy. Let him answer to his maker.

And I also want to say I FEEL for his family. No family should EVER have to go through this. They have to live with his sins, and its heartbreaking. They are as much victims in this as well.

Re: Death Penalty- Pharmacy shooter

I do agree with you that in certain situations I find myself wishing the death penalty on people.

However, I personally do not believe the death penalty is something that can be a pick and choose type of thing. If the death penalty is available to some, it will be available to all. And because there are stories of innocent people who have been put to death, I do not support the death penalty. I personally cannot support something where there is even a tiny chance that an innocent person loses their life. No matter how heinous the crime.

I think this man is a horrible, vile, terrible excuse for a human being. I can only hope that he suffers for the remainder of his life in jail.

May the victims rest in peace and may the families find the strength to carry on.

I am going to absolutly agree with you.

My only REAL point is/was: I have no problem having certain people get put to death for the absolute certainty of a horrendus crime that is proven in a court of law.

In this case (and Im talking super preliminary as per the info I see on the 'net) They matched his fingerprints to the crime scene, and to gun registry.

If there is ABSOLUTE proof....I say let the MF fry.

Are there really that many people that have been put to death that are innocent? I don't think I've heard of any.

I hope he fries, along with his wife.

IMO even if there is only 1, that's too many. Can we really support something like that if there is even the slightest possibility that 1 innocent life will be killed? I cannot.

Based on what I read she was begging for pain killers, so while she didn't directly kill these people, she definintely played a role in it. And you are right, she probably doesn't deserve the DP, but I think she should rot in jail for the rest of her life.

Too many, unfortunatly. The majority being black and poor.

There is NO question in my mind that are TOO many innocent people on death row.

The absolute truth is it SHOULD be abolished since too many innocent people are convicted and put to death...not to mention its really not a detterent.

BUT, I will stick by my statement that when you have someone, with not ONE shadow of a doubt at all of being guilty of SUCH a heinous crime...I say fry fry fry and dont look back.

The news was reporting he fled on foot, so who knows. But if she didn't know about it....she didn't see the story on the news and put two and two together? The fact that she was led away in handcuffs leads me to believe she knew very well what went down.

I feel that a lethal injection would be far too nice. They should shoot him in the head and let him bleed to death!

Yes, I read that too so who knows.
Unless she was so drugged up and he kept her away from all media.

Do you have any literature on this? I know I've heard of innocent people being freed after DNA evidence became available and cleared them. Never heard of it in death penalty cases though. Would love to know more about this.

Drug abuse needs to be treated medically, not criminally.

I'd like to remind people that the purpose of the Death Penalty is not to act as a punishment, it's meant as a deterent.

If the person can be rehabilitated, they should not be put to death.
Are we talking about a career criminal here? Remember, these were people who some of you had everyday interactions w/. You saw them as people. Have they lost their humanity in your hearts?

Well, I doubt we'd really hear about it, how would they prove it? If they couldn't prove it appeal after appeal in court, they'd never be able to prove it to the public, no matter if it were true or not.

I have no doubts in my mind that innocent people have been put to death and guilty people have been let go. No doubts. Even still, I support the death penalty.

Not after you kill 4 innocent people, at least not IMO. Generally I would agree with you but after you take another persons life (high or not), all bets are off.

It needs to be treated medically AND criminally. When someone kills FOUR innocent people in COLD BLOOD, they need more than just drug rehab. They need to be PUNISHED.

And Killing 4 people needs to be treated criminally. So how 'bout he gets some medical attention, then he can think about what he's done while sitting in a jail cell when he's been 'rehabilitated' Chat Icon .

How do you treat a dead person?

My comment was meant for those who are calling for the death penalty.

Absolutely.
I'm not saying they shouldn't stand trial.
I'm saying that these people really are not what the death penalty is for.

I respectfully disagree. My opinion on this is that taking drugs is a choice, going out into a pharmacy to steal them is a choice, and killing 4 people to obtain them is also a choice and therefore to me (and ppl can disagree) it is criminal and not medical.

Rehabilitated?? I'm sure you wouldn't feel the same if it was your mother or child shot in the back of the head execution style. He should never see the light of day again. Whether that be in the ground or in a dark jail cell. Sorry, I have no humanity in my heart...not for this.

Then you should have said that first.

You said that his Drug abuse needed to be addressed medically. We can all agree on that. But, you left out the detail of killing 4 innocent human beings. THAT is what needs to be dealt with criminally. I don't agree in the death penalty in this case. In his case, I'd prefer my taxes pay for him to suffer in jail. eta: With each of the victim's pictures staring back at him plastered all over his cell walls.

I know for that I feel they should not be put to death. I'm not sure if I feel they should or should not spend the rest of their lives in jail.

I would feel the same way if this was my mother, father, anyone.

I do not believe in the death penalty.

Here is one example of a man that was put to death and after the fact, it looks more and more like he was not guilty of the crime he died for.

What makes this story even more sad is that he was convicted of starting a fire that killed his 3 daughters. He proclaimed his innocence until the day he was put to death. So not only did he lose his family, he possibly died for something he did not do.

Example
