Length of time on a school bus?

Just wondering if theres a time limit with how long a 3 year old should be in a schoolbus? My son's school ends at 2:30 and he got home at 4pm today...this is a long time...i can drive to queens faster than this from shirley!!!

Re: Length of time on a school bus?

My DS is on for about 20 mins. in the mornings.
Last year and this summer it was about 40-45. This school year, he's the last pick up (or second to last).

Coming home, he's on 45 mins.

I **think** the max is one hour, but, I'm not 100% sure.

It's faster for me to go get him in the afternoons, but, honestly, with DD, it's easier for me to have him to take the bus home and he loves it!

I am guessing the max isn't 1 hour since we are 1 hour in the morning, 75-80 minutes in the afternoon. We don't send her in the morning but the pick up time is 1 hr before doors open. Even just the afternoon seems a very long time for a 34 month old. Direct route is 17 minutes, but we are first pick up, last drop off of 6 kids per driver.

Re: Length of time on a school bus?

There is no maximum by law:
NYSED time on bus

My parent trainer told me recently that many of the parents she works with have kids that are on the bus longer than they had been in previous years. I think my DS has more kids on his bus this year than in previous years, which would translate to more time on the bus.

My DS is on the bus less than an hour in the morning - he gets picked up about 45 minutes before the school day begins. In the afternoon, though, he is usually on the bus for at least an hour, sometimes it gets closer to an hour and a half. (he gets picked up and dropped off at different locations and afternoon is further from school)

My DS is on the bus for 35 minutes in the morning pickup, and about an hour coming home. He usually naps on the way home!

my 4 year old is first picked up and last dropped off.

in the morning he is picked up 40 minutes before school (although they are early, they are supposed to be here 30 minutes before)

in the afternoon he is dropped off 1 hour after school gets out.

But my 1st grader takes almost an hour to get home to from our local school! (he is one of the last stops)
