Would this annoy you?
If a close friend of yours named their new child the same name as your child's name?

Not at all, unless it was a really unique name or a name I made up my self.

No, unless it was a made up name. Names are public domain imo.

Re: Would this annoy you?
Not really. My friend and I were pregnant at the same name. Both our husbands have the same name and we knew from the get-go that if we had boys, they'd have the same names since we were both planning to go the traditional route (both boys would be the IV).

Re: Would this annoy you?
Nah wouldnt annoy me. BUT I have lots of friends that If i picked the same name as their dc's they would be seriously annoyed.
for example my sisters dd name is Hailey when i had my dd i wanted to name her to be Bailey my sister told me this is stupid to have our daughters name so much alike mind you it wasnt even the same name LOL i still joke about it with her
Is the name a popular name that she is choosing?? if you dont mind sharing

HA! I'm not fuming..but i guess just a little taken back. I thought it was an unwritten rule that you just don't do that..i know i never would...my DS's name is Michael (i know..not unique) and my friend said that she might name her new child Michael or Nicholas. We aren't super close anymore, but we used to be. I guess if I knew that she always LOVED the name Michael it wouldn't annoy me, but that's not the case. There are just so many names to choose from. I guess i'm in the minority..now i feel like a bi*tc*!!!! Anyway she had the baby yesterday, we were texting back and forth, and when i asked her the baby's name, she never responded...which makes me think she picked Michael.

Honestly, Michael is probably one of the most common names out there, I wouldn't be annoyed in the least bit.

Re: Would this annoy you?
I'll be honest, I wouldn't like it.
The one name I always loved growing up for a boy and always said I would use for my son, was used by someone very close in DH's family. The boys are cousins, so when I was pregnant, we just automatically took the name off our list. Not only are they family, but we were close friends too.
There is a girls name I always loved and my cousin used it. When I was pregnant with DS (we were team green), I also took that off our list.
Now if it was just an acquantaince, fine. But a close friend or family member? I wouldn't like it.

Re: Would this annoy you?
I don't know about bother me but it would definitely be like a yeah huh? If it were a name that meant something like a family name for them or a name they've always loved (in that case, if it were a good friend, I would have most likely have known that and would not have chosen it myself), I would not at all be bothered. But DS' name is not all that common so if they like it just because of hearing it from DS then yeah, I'd think it were odd.
I loved my cousin's choice for a boy name. They had a girl. But since I knew they were not done, I still did not put that boy name in my running when pregnant with DS. They've since had a boy and did not use that name because they met someone with the same name who turned them off. So now it's my first pick if DC #2 is a boy. I actually asked if it were okay.

Re: Would this annoy you?
Friend, definitely wouldn't care...would like the fact that they loved my child's name enough to use it themselves.
Family, yes I'd be annoyed because I feel like you can't really use the same name within families.

Re: Would this annoy you?
Yes, it would bother me. It just would.
It takes so long for me to pick a name that no one else I know has, or that meets the other 80 criteria of picking a name. So if a good friend used the name as well, I'd be peeved.
