Questions about Clomid?

Hi Ladies- I have a couple of questions about clomid. My Dr. wants me to go on Clomid to have a better control over on my ovulation. I wanted to know who has/is on it and your opinion of it. I'm hesitant about going on it, mostly concerned about any side effects that I've been reading.

I appreciate any advice or thoughts you may have about it...

I took it for 2 cycles. I took 100mg on days 5-9. I ovulate on my own so it was just to stimulate more follies in hopes we would get at least one to fertilize. I took clomid with 2 IUIs and neither worked.

I had no side effects

Hi Tylersmom,

I recently went on CLomid (started last month) for my first medicated IUI. I started taking it on CD3 for 5 days. I had no side effects at all. You're talking to a person who gets shaky and dizzy from a Benadryl!
Some positive side effects in taking it (this month too) is that my period was super short and very light. I barely even felt like I had my period. AND my skin has never looked so good!

It made a big difference for me fertility-wise in terms of the # and size of the follicles. In the past, I did a natural cycle and O'd on my own. I always had one follie between 15mm and 20mm in size. With Clomid, I had 3, each over 30mm!!!!!!!

Remember that there are meds out there that are both stronger and more invasive than Clomid. So, I'd take this one any day! Good luck!

Clomid worked for me, I've done a total of 6 cycles on clomid all with iui. I did start on a low dose of 50 mg and ended up at 200mg because although I was getting nice follies and lots of them, my RE really felt like I needed to up the dose to get even larger follies. With my dd I had one follie size 24. With my second pregnancy I had two follies size 24 and 21 and I am having a single pregnancy.

The worst side effects for me were hot flashes and mood swings. I think the side effects were hardest on my poor dh. I think the side effects were worth it, since I have my beautiful 14 months old dd and I am 8 weeks pg with baby number 2.

did 5 rounds of clomid..did nothing for me,i did not respond...as for side effects,i had horrible hot flashes

u do not want to be on clomid forever bc it can thin your lining..i was on it with my ob and as soon as i saw a RE he said let's go to femera

I also had a blocked tube that was cleared during my HSG. Otherwise we were unexplained IF. I ovulated on my own without Clomid, it just helped things along.

My first two cycles on Clomid I had this. The first cycle I responded so well and had NINE mature follicles! I was in so much pain when I ovulated. I couldn't even try that month because my risk of multiples was too high.

As far as side effects, I've had weight gain but it could be a number of other factors related to IF treatments.

That's what I'm afraid of, going on it a nothing happening... I want to give it a couple more tries before i have no other choice but to go on it.

I took 4 rounds of clomid (increasing each time) with no results and EVERY side effect. I was so happy when we went to injectables

Stupid question- How do they test you as to how many Follicles you have??? This is all new to me...lol Since I'm able to ovulate on my own, my dr wants me to ovulate i guess on command, to help this whole process out a little quicker????


they do an internal sonogram to see your follicles. its a very quick sono!

as for me, i did 4 cycles of clomid, one cycle was with an IUI and i didnt respond to it the way i thought i would. only one follice but on a good note i also had no side effects.

don't go just by me..it has workd for plenty of people

i have a whole list of crap that's wrong with me lol so it was prob that

never know if it works unless u give it a try
