Dr Jassey/ Vaccines Question

HI,

I saw the post about two different doctors and one being Dr. Jassey. Well we bring our 8 month old son there. Just recently my husband and i are on different ends with vaccines. I want to give it to him and my husband doesn't. He has got his shots up to his 6 month visit but nothing afterwards yet. I am so torn and confused and need help.

I spoke to Dr. JOnathan Jassey about it and he would work with us and separate the shots and only do 1 at a time but i havent really spoken to him about stopping completely. I don't think he will agree with us.

Do you think he will not see us anymore. I do love him and the practice so much and i don't want to leave.

I am a mess right now and i wish this whole parenting thing was easier.

Have anyone had any issues or problems with vaccines? Has your child/children had long term affects?

I need research to back to me up and the more i show that the children are safe the more it will help my case.

Sorry, I am not familiar with Dr. Jassy. I know there are some practices thay say they will not see patients who's parents will not do vaccines or want to adjust the schedule.

The practice we use is fine with use adjusting a little (maybe they would be fine about not doing them at all but we don't care to do that.)

DS is 2 1/2 and is current on all his vaccines. We did stretch some out so as not to give him more then 2 (generally) at any one time.

He has not had any reactions or issues to any.

I would just call them as ask. They may be willing to work with you, or maybe they can help alleviate some of DH's fears (if that is what you want.)

we use jassey.. and while we didn't stop all her vaccines, we did spread them out and we were VERY selective on what she would get and what she wouldn't.

she is behind on all her vaccines and she is 2 years old.. i know eventually she will have to catch up for school, but i have another 3 years for that.

if you stop vaccinating you do know your child will not be able to attend school and if you use religious beliefs you will need to prove the change of religion, since your child is semi vaccinated already.

We see Dr. Jonathan Jassey and have stayed on his recommended vaccination schedule. DD is almost 22 months and we have never had a problem with the vaccines or any reaction to them.

Dr. Jassey is very easy to talk to, so maybe have a conversation with him about your concerns and wishes???

I go to that office but I don't see Dr. Jassey. I only give my DD one shot at a time, and the ped I see there is fine with it. I know someone else who goes to that practice, and I don't think she has given her DC any vaccinations yet (although I am not 100% sure). However, she doesn't see Dr. Jassey either.

DS is 2 and we did the separation plan with Dr. J. He has been extremely flexible with my wishes. The ones I don't want him to have, he doesn't even push... But others we have separated over the last two years.

As for effects, other than a low (less than 100.0) fever, DS has had no other effects... DS is extremely verbal and has been since 14mos.

Like a pp stated, sit with Jassey and express your concerns and have DH there so he can voice them too, this shouldn't just be your fight with the ped... JMHO tho.

We use Dr. Jassey and I remember him saying at our orientation that they don't see children who aren't vaccinated. The office spreads out the vaccines so you never get more than 2 in a visit. They're pretty accommodating so I guess if you wanted to spread them out further / delay vaccinations you could. But to not vaccinate? Honestly, I wouldn't keep going to that office if I knew kids who weren't vaccinated were going to be sitting in the waiting room with my baby. If a kid comes in because he has a fever and it turns out to be measles... I don't want to think what would happen to the innocent babies in the waiting room with him.

Oh, wait... that really happened and eleven people including 3 innocent infants got measles in 2008.

I bring DS there, but we see a different doctor. She has had no problems with my decision to delay vaccines, but she does ask me at every well visit. I delayed all vaccines until DS was 15 months old, and so far (at 21 months) he has had 2 Dtap and 1 Hib. I only give 1 at a time and I will only give at a minimum of 30 days apart, but I prefer 60 days. They are very respectful of my alternate vaccine schedule and I have never felt pressured to give before I'm ready, it has always been on my terms. They are also fine with me not giving the MMR until DS is ready for school.

Dr Jassey is really easy to talk to. He told me many parents spread out the vaccines so that it's 1 at a time. he will not give more than 2 at a time ever.

We delayed RV because I was nervous about it and he was fine about it. No pressure.

I am pretty sure he will not treat childen that are not vaccinated - I think that is a lot of ped's that I work with also.
I also know that my school district will not allow any students in that are not vaccinated for certain illnesses- regardless of religious beliefs.

But..he is really very easy to talk to, so just discuss with him.

The reasons a lot of pediatricians will not treat un vaccinated children is that it puts the children in their practice at risk.
