Dental X-Rays and Pregnancy
I've heard conflicting things on this but wanted to know if anyone knows if you can have dental xrays taken while pregnant. I am scheduled to have a cleaning on Monday and know they will want to take them since its my annual visit. TIA

Re: Dental X-Rays and Pregnancy
My dentist doesn't do them when I have been pregnant. The visit after I deliver is when they have been done.

Re: Dental X-Rays and Pregnancy
I just had my teeth cleaned (my high risk dr recommends this ~ we can get pregnancy related gingivitis, plus it helps if you have swollen gums) my dentist doesn't do xrays while pregnant and I would have opted for no if they wanted to.

Don't have it done, they can do the cleaning and whatever else they need to but no x-rays

Re: Dental X-Rays and Pregnancy
I went when I was 2 months along and they told me then don't do X-rays during pregnancy. I think I've read that it is okay but a lot to places won't do it of course bc of obvious reasons.

Re: Dental X-Rays and Pregnancy
Unless you have teeth issues at that moment they will not do the xrays. Since you are just goign for a cleaning they will just postpone the xrays until you appt after pregnancy.

Re: Dental X-Rays and Pregnancy
Get the cleaning but NOT the x-rays. Let them know you are PG. It should be the first question they ask of a woman of childbearing years before giving x-rays.

Thanks Girls! I probably should have stated that I am not noticably pregnant since I'm only 6 weeks along. But I will be steering clear of them.

Re: Dental X-Rays and Pregnancy
My dentist wouldn't even do x-rays when i was TTC'ing it took me 2 years to get pregnant, so no x-rays for me during that whole time
i had a set done when i went in after giving birth
