dog tick bite

My Golden retriever was bitten by a dog tick. I saw a nasty bug crawling on the floor Saturday morning and squished it. Blood exploded everywhere. It seems it had bitten my dog unlatched and was heading on it's merry way when it ran into me. Against my better judgement Dh put Frontline plus on my pooch. 24 hours later he is now vomiting. I am not sure if she is just sick, if it's from the tick bite or the frontline. I can't bring her to the emergency vet because I am home alone with 2 sleeping kids. Anyone know the symptoms of a dog tick bite or a frontline reaction?

A dog tick bite does not cause vomiting that soon I do not believe. It could be a reaction to the frontline,

The big question is has your dog ever used frontline and did he have a reaction? If he has used it and no reaction, maybe the vomiting is just a coincidence? Also, does your dog vomit for no reason ever (mine do)? So just trying to help you decipher what is going on.

I am no medical expert but I do not believe a tick bite can cause a reaction that quickly. I think it would take days or weeks for the bacteria levels to build up in the body, kwim?

watch to see if she is lethargic over the next 7-14 days

my pup was also recently bitten by one and i took him to the vet and will have a blood test this week ( a month later to see if he is ok)
he was never lethargic, maintained his appetitite, he didn't vomit, and continued to have regular bowel movements which are good signs

i think they can vomit due to the bite--i feel like my vet asked if he vomitted

and my dog also had a vomiting episode related ( or so i believe) to frontline a few yrs. ago so i don't use it--my vet gave me somethign else to try but i haven't yet bc i am scared!
ticks are bad this year...i have already found 2 on him and never did before-

My pooch has been on Frontline and Andvantix before. I chose the Frontline Plus this year since that's what I had on hand. She has never had a reaction to anything before. I read all through it and it didn't say not to use on old dogs. She is 12 years old.

Yes she does have throw up spells. Usually it is something she has eaten but this time that's impossible. Thanks to the ticks I walk her outside and bring her in right away. I have 2 rambunctious kids so the dog has her own room. She has not left the dining room in a couple weeks. She has a tumor on her mouth that can bleed and I don't want the kids hurting her plus she doesn't care for the kdis much anymore. Her playing days are over

Every few months she will poop and puke through the house. I lasts a few days. I put her on rice and chicken and she gets better. We have seen the vet and they just say it's from something she ate. But this time she has only had her kibble.

I know she has cancer but she is actually in pretty good shape considering. All her organs are functioning well and they gave her pain meds (doggy Advil) to make her comfortable. The vet says she has a year at most but she still has a lot of spunk left in her.

She threw up about 6 times throughout the night. Once the kibble was gone it was just liquid. I had taken her water last night but have reintroduced it. So far so good today no puke.

I'm curious as to what "cancer" your dog may have that would cause the vet to say she has "about a year". Feel free to email me directly at [email protected] if you want to discuss this further.

The diagnosis may be completely accurate but in the face of vomiting and a bleeding oral mass, perhaps there is something more that can be done to make her more comfortable.

Just wanted to update in case anyone was wondering. My pooch is back to her normal self again :) must have just been a bug or something.
