I did this last year. Used my mom's dress.Chat Icon
It took a few weeks but it came out AMAZING, I really couldn't have asked for more!! There are some pics in my album on here. An LIFer's mom did it for me, I will FM her and ask her to contact you if her mom is still doing this. She made the bonnet too. I still well up when I think about how special her dress is....I'm a sap, lol

wedding gown into christening dress?

my sister did this with my niece and I believe it was 150. Phyllis from Bridal Elegance did it (this was 4 years ago though). For my nephew she brought the remaining fabric to a tailor and he made pants and a vest.

That's actually not a bad price. A dress will cost around $80 at BBB.

Re: wedding gown into christening dress?

Here is the gown my son wore. His brother will be wearing it next month as well.

It was made from my MIL wedding dress

My husband and his 2 brothers wore it as well. All there initials are embroidered at the bottom. She got a seamstress to do it a long time ago. Try the dry cleaners by your house. They usually have people they can direct you to

Thanks! The most amazing thing was that the dress was almost all lace (it was a 1969 dress, lol) and I really don't like lace, so she used the under material to make the main part of the dress. She literally took it apart at the seems and re-created the christening gown.

For those that asked about price, it was more than an off the rack dress at say JC Penney's or BRU but to us, it was woth it. It's an heirloom now, IMO.

THIS! i highly doubt that my daughter or granddaughters will ever want to wear my wedding gown on their wedding day. But, a christening gown can be passed down forever Chat Icon
