When did you stop waking newborn to feed at night?
For our first doc appt, he said we didn't have to wake the baby at night, but make sure she was eating 2-3 hours during the day.
Then he realized how much weight she had lost at that time and said we should wake her every 4 hours at night until she regains her birth weight (at the time, my milk had just come in the day before).
Now, she is back up to birth weight (prob close to 8 pounds by now). She is 11 days old. She feeds like a champ, usually 30-40 mins at a time.
I wake her every 3 hours to feed during the day (will give it to her more frequently if she wants, but she is hard enough to wake up every 3 hours).
When can I stop waking her every 4 hours at night? I accidentally let it go 5 hours last night, so I think she is capable of sleeping more but I feel guilty since she only eats every 3 hours during the day.

When did you stop waking newborn to feed at night?
Do you have a 2 week appt with your dr? If so, I would ask then. As soon as my DS gained back his birth weight I was told to let him sleep at night unless he woke up hungry. This was at about 2 weeks old. Good luck!

When did you stop waking newborn to feed at night?
I never woke DS to feed. But then again he never slept much. If he did sleep more than 3 hours I did not wake him because I was so happy he was sleeping.
My DS was always gaining so I never worried.

Re: When did you stop waking newborn to feed at night?
I agree with the PP. Once my DD hit 2 weeks old, I stopped waking her. Also at that time, the "sleepy newborn" phase starts to wear off and they start waking on their own to eat all the time.

When did you stop waking newborn to feed at night?
After my DD regained her birth weight, I stopped. I also decided to feed when she wanted as opposed to waking her and found that 99% of the time, she wakes up to eat every 3-4 hrs anyway and the 1% of the time she sleeps more than that, I smile and enjoy the extra sleep.

When did you stop waking newborn to feed at night?
Never had to wake a night bc he was so hungry at first but very soon started to sleep longer so my ped said on demand after 11 pm if he was back to birth weight.

When did you stop waking newborn to feed at night?
The first few weeks we never had to because she would wake up hungry. After a point she went longer stretches and by 7 weeks was STTN.

I never woke her up at a night, but she was gaining weight right away. She was EBF.
Since your baby is gaining now, I think I would just make sure LO ate every 2-3 hours during the day and let LO sleep with no interruptions at night.

Re: When did you stop waking newborn to feed at night?
Do you have another appt soon to check the weight again? I would probably wait until then if it is soon or request an appt just to make sure you are on track. Then, If your milk is in you should have no problem letting your LO sleep as long as they want.
