Baby starting daycare at 8wks old
My sisters DS is going to start daycare at 8wks old and it just dawned on me that at that point, he will have not even had any shots yet. What sort of measures if any will be taken to keep him from getting sick? I am getting nervous for him!

Re: Baby starting daycare at 8wks old
My DD started at the same age. It didn't even cross my mind. She was fine. She got her shots on time as the daycare required. She rarely got sick with anything. Things they catch in daycare will be things like colds, stomach bugs etc- nothing a shot can help with anyway

Baby starting daycare at 8wks old
Many kids start as early as 6 weeks. I know our peds office will give shots at 6w if a baby needs to start at that point.
My boys got their first round of shots at 8w and although they started at 11w, they only had their first round of shots.

Re: Baby starting daycare at 8wks old
My SiL did the same and the baby did get a cold at 3 months but he has been ok. They brought their own bouncy seat to keep at daycare so he wasn't sharing with anyone I thought that was really smart.

Baby starting daycare at 8wks old
My DS got his first round of shots at 8 weeks and then started daycare at 12 weeks. Like the pp's mentioned, a lot of babies start at 6 weeks so I'm sure he'll be fine.

This, mostly. Full vaccinations for some things can takes months, years...

Shots aren't going to keep a baby well. At least not from colds. My DS started at 8 weeks and he is fine.

Not uncommon... We were about to put DS in daycare without them.
