Christmas Menu Help and a Baked Chicken Dish

I'm hosting for the first time. Normally my older relatives would but it's a new tradition so I am looking to impress. She normally caters.

So here is my menu.

Appetizers:
Shrimp cocktail
Cheese and crackers
Pigs in a blanket

Course #1
Baked Ravoli
Salad
Penne Al la vodka
***im thinking I need a chicken

Course #2
Roast Beef
Baked Potatoes
Corn
Broccoli

Desserts are store bought.

Any ideas? Do I need the chicken?

I'm not sure...part of me thinks you should have chicken, because without you would have just 2 pastas and a salad. But, then it could simply be a pasta course! It might also be too filling to have 2 proteins. If you do chicken with the pasta, I would suggest balsamic marinated chicken tenders, so it's not huge, fried cutlets.

Bottom line Chat Icon I don't think anyone will miss the chicken if you don't have it.

I'd skip the chicken and just do a pasta course. I personally would only do one type of pasta and then bump up the number of sides with the main meal.

I would skip the ravioli and chicken and add more to main meal and another app. What about an antipasto app with Italian meats, olives, red peppers etc. does everyone eat roast beef? If not you could add a chicken otherwise I would add another side. Ina garten has a delicious white bean dish that is easy and impressive! I have to find the link.

Re: Christmas Menu Help and a Baked Chicken Dish

I still would do a fried chicken cutlet with those pastas. You can always pre make them and heat them in the oven.
