Shower Dilemma

Would you have your baby shower at the same restaurant your sister in law had her baby shower??

Here is some backstory as to why I am considering it:

So my mom and sister thought they were getting a pretty early start on planning my shower (I'm due July 2). I wanted them to book a brunch at Jonathan's in Garden City Park for the end of April. We previously researched/saw a bunch of places in 2012 for my bridal shower (which we had at Novita) and back then Jonathan's was our second favorite. I wanted pretty much the same thing for this shower and didn't feel like looking at places again so we hoped they could just book it there. Well, when my mom stopped in yesterday she found out they are already booked for all of April and May except the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend which there is no way we would do because everyone will be away!! I am so disappointed and can't believe they are booked so early! So now we are pretty much back to the drawing board. I don't want to do Novita again even though they were amazing and fit all my criteria. My bridal shower was November 2012 so I feel like doing the same place again only 1.5 years later is overkill.

The only other local place I know i like that does a good brunch is waterzooi but my sister-in-law (dH's brothers wife) had her baby shower there 2.5 years ago. Originally I ruled it out right away because of that, but now that I see the other options (none of which I am crazy about) I am considering it. My question is, is it weird if I have my shower there too? DHs family is small so there will only be about 15 people who will have been guests at both. I just feel like its kind of lame to have the same place as her. What do you girls think? Am I over thinking it? Other than that waterzooi is pretty much the perfect place for us to have it. Ugh!

Does anyone have any suggestions of other places to check out? My wish list is pretty specific:
Accommodates 70-80 people
Brunch
Private/semi private room
Within 10-15 minutes of Roslyn/Williston Park area (definitely no Queens, might consider going a little further east if it met all other criteria)
Modern, more upscale feel
$40-45pp max

I feel pressure to decide and book ASAP because other random places my mom started calling (Inn at NHP, davenport press) were already booked for my preferred date too. I wanna make my decision by this weekend. Any place suggestions and/or thoughts on the waterzooi dilemma would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Shower Dilemma

I would have it anywhere I wanted and not worry about who had what where in the past.

Others might feel different but I don't get hung up on things like that.

Sorry to crash but I agree with this.

But, I can also suggest Kaseys in RVC. I went to a bridal shower there in 2011. It was a brunch. It was excellent and fits your criteria. Good luck!

Re: Shower Dilemma

We are having my shower at the same place that my niece just had her baptismal reception at. As long as it is a nice revenue with good food, who cares if it is a repeat!

What about the first weekend of June? (I know it might seem close to your due date, but I have 3 weeks to go and have been doing nothing but twiddling my thumbs waiting for this babe to get here) Or, my SIL bridal shower was at Crabtrees in Floral Park. The brunch was really tasty, I don't know what the price was but should be in the range.

my cousin had her bridal shower and her DC's 1st bday at the same place. Pretty much same ppl were at both. No one cared, the opposite - ppl were happy to get back as they knew the food is good, the place is pretty, and has music.
And regarding having it at a place of ur SIL's place - as PP said - who cares?

I would personally do at the same place u had ur shower cause u loved it so much.

I don't see it as a problem.
Many places will already be booked for May because of communions so you should book ASAP.

I had mine at the west end cafe in carle place and it definitely fits your criteria. I loved it and people are still talking about the food presentation. I can't remember exact cost since we did open bar but they have packages.

edited to add: they close the whole restaurant so they book up fast, I would call ASAP if you are interested. I am also not sure about the brunch since we did a lunch..

Good Luck!

I'm having my baby shower (next week!) at the same place my cousin had her bridal shower in April 2012.

I wouldn't think twice about it.

If you don't wanna have it there I suggest Singletons in Bethpage. My best friend had her bridal shower there (a brunch) and it was delicious.

Thanks everyone! I kind of figured I was overthinking it and your honest replies confirmed that!

I'll look into the other suggestions and if I still think Waterzooi is the best place for me I'm gonna tell my mom to go for it. Thanks!!!

I think you are overthinking it! I had my shower at Jonathan's just a month after my good friend did, didn't bother anyone.

What about Matteo's, I had my bridal shower there.

I think it's hard to find places you like so either would be a great choice. I had my wedding and baby shower's at the same place 2 years apart. No one thought twice and those that said anything were just excited to be eating there again! It was perfect for us. Go where YOU want to celebrate and to hell with everyone else. Go where it will be easiest and the food is the best.

Totally fine. And as a guest, I wouldn't think twice about going to a venue twice at all.

I agree. In the grand scheme of things, who cares? Your shower will be totally different!
