Extremely attached almost two year old

My son will be two in August, and while my husband and I are at work, he stays home with our nanny who also picks up my almost seven year old from school. My problem is that when I am home, my two year old is constantly attached to my hip, to the point that when I go upstairs for a second, he wails for me and whines for me ALL DAY LONG. I go through this all day, every day. The interesting thing is that when he stays home with the nanny or my mom occasionally, he cries a bit when I leave and then stops. If it was up to him, he would be carried by me or my husband all the time. I just recently started putting him in his crib at night and letting him CIO. What else can I do to have a life? I also feel that he takes away a lot from my time with my oldest...

I would let him cry. Or redirect attention. At 2 he should be able to understand that he can't be picked up but he can sit and play while mommy cooks or something like that.

My DS went through a short phase like that but now he is just happy to be near us while doing his own thing.....unless my DH is in the garage then he has a meltdown because he loves to be in there with him.

My dd is a similar age and does the same thing with my dh. I'm home with her all day and she's fine but as soon as she sees my DH she only wants him and cries and screams for him to hold her. It also happens when we go anywhere as a family. If it's just me and dd she's fine and sits in her stroller or the shopping cart with no problems. But if we're out with dh there's no way she'll stay in the stroller or cart or even let me carry her. She has to be carried by DH. It's been getting to be annoying when we go places (mostly for dh ) but I think its part of the age. And since she doesn't get to dh as much as she sees me, when he's around she doesn't want to let him go. Your ds might have a similar feeling when you are home. Im hoping she'll grow out of this phase soon, as she begins to understand things better.

We are inthat stage too (19 month old twins). They'll grow out of it so for now, we jsut make sure they're close to us as much as possible.

My DS will also be 2 in August and does the same thing. He even wakes up in the middle of the night every night lately screaming for me. I've tried letting him CIO at this point but he cries for too long that I just cave and bring him in my room with us. When he falls back asleep I put him back in his crib. I am home with my kids all day and he has this sudden attachment to me where he wants me to hold him all the time. I'm really hoping it's just a phase because I have a 3.5 year old DD who has severe separation anxiety. She sees me doing my hair and makeup, which I do everyday, and starts panicking that I am going to leave. I can't have 2 kids like this all the time. I don't have any advice but you are not alone. I hope this phase passes soon for all of us!

DS2, who is about to turn 2, is the same way. He only wants me and generally wants me to hold him or sit in my lap. He's particularly clingy when he wakes up and after picking him up from daycare. When I'm not around, he's very independent. I have no advice, but you're not alone.

So glad I'm not alone! He sometimes wakes up in the middle of the night and wails so I just bring him into bed with me. I guess it's the age but I'm also thinking that it's bc we both work full time and when we're home, all he wants to do is be with us, which is understandable but at the same time things need to get done. It's like we're damned if we do and damned if we don't.

I guess we all just have to hang in there!
