UFT health plans best for IVF?
For any NYCDOE employees, what health plans are best for IVF coverage? Thanks!

UFT health plans best for IVF?
Ghi. I have ghi with the carveout rider. You get unlimited iui's and after six iui's (under 35yo or 3 over 35yo) you are covered 75%.
You need to price shop - northshore Lij wanted 7,000 for IVF with that insurance, and LI IVF wanted 1,500.
You also get three lifetime fills of injectable medication, so you have to make sure re orders Max allowed. Ie- I got ten boxes of Gonal which lasted me over 4 iui cycles, with leftovers. That counted as one fill, and I have two left.

I also had GHI and went to LI IVF. They are excellent but also reasonable and quite knowledgable! GHI covers 3 fresh and 3 frozen with a lifetime of 3 rounds of injectibles. So like suggested, make sure to fill up those injectibles for max just in case you'll be needing them later on...

Re: UFT health plans best for IVF?
Thank you all so much for your knowledge and insight. We work with Dr. Keltz, formerly of Continuum Repro. Associates out of St. Luke's Roosevelt. They WERE in-network for GHI CBP but now that they merged with RMA, the IUI is in-network, but the IVF (which we will probably need per doctor with the scarring I have on my tubes from endo) is out of network and WAY more than we really should take on knowingly. I looked into Aetna bc the DOE offers Aetna HMO and both Continuum and RMA are in network, but the billing office did say that Aetna is difficult for IVF approval. I'm stumped at this point, but leaning towards changing to Aetna during open enrollment. I'm meeting with billing rep. at RMA this week to discuss options after I meet with nurse to get some clarification on likelihood that IUI could be successful at all. Le sigh. Trying to keep my chin up, as we just started this process and I know others have been at this a while. I keep everyone in my heart and thoughts as they go through all this.

UFT health plans best for IVF?
I am DOE and have the regular GHI. I have used it for 6 IUIs which were covered. 3 IVF which were covered at 75% and 1 FET covered at 75%. I am out of coverage for IVF. I am currently preg via my 3rd IVF. I have one frozen so I will have one more FET covered at 75% and then if that doesn't work I would only have IUIs covered. For my last IVF that worked I went to SIRM and it only costed me 2000 something. If you can try to go somewhere where you are in network. I too looked into switching insurance through the DOE in case I ran out of GHI but it seems like all the other plans are very expensive while GHI is free. For the family plans it seemed expensive and it also seemed like some insurances didn't cover fertility at all. If the FET doesn't work and I decide I want a second child I may have to look into other options with insurance.
I hope IUIs work for you!
