Would you take your newborn out to a studio in late January/early February for newborn photos or would you pay $200 more to have them done in your home?

Since DC would just be in the car and then the studio, nowhere else, I would take them out and save the $200 or I'd find a different photographer.

For that much of a difference in price, I would definitely go to the studio.

Speaking from experience, you will be dying to get out of the house for any excuse. Go to the studio!

I'll be taking DS to a studio in my town though in January. For some reason I rather go out. The thought of cleaning and dealing with my dogs made me wanna find a studio that was close to home.

Re: newborn photography- wwyd
I really wanted someone to come to us for a variety of reasons -- easier logistics, I wanted more lifestyle type pix including some family pix on our bed, pix in nursery, etc, was much easier with 3yo DS - we were able to make him lunch during the shoot, dh took him outside to play and put up Halloween decorations after his part, we didn't have to worry about keeping him entertained in the studio for hours and he had access to his stuff in our house. We didn't have to worry about getting anywhere on time. For us doing it at home was the way to go for sure. That said, it was hard to find a photog! Some only do studio, others charged as much as $750 more to travel, and the ones who did travel tended to be more expensive generally. We figured we would make an effort to find someone who would travel for a price we were willing to pay and luckily we did. Our photog charges a travel fee but we live close enough to her where it didn't apply to us.

If I would save that much I would definitely go to the studio. You're basically in and out of the car anyway. You will really only be outside for 5 min tops.
