Dutch Wonderland / Lancaster Area
I know this has been asked a million times, but what else do you recommend in the area?
We are going at the end of June and staying at Eden Resort for 3 nights. One day we will do DW. Is that an all day thing? We are going with DH's family, 6 adults and 5 kids (ranging in age from 1-6).
The other full day we were going to do the Strasburg Railroad and Amish Country. We will do the Crayola Experience on our way there or home.
Anything else to do? Any restaurant suggestions? We will be there on my birthday, so any nicer/special restaurants?
Thanks!

We are going this summer, too, based on all the recommendations here. You have a lot planned. Everyone says you will want to spend the day at the pool/sprinkler area at the hotel.

Re: Dutch Wonderland / Lancaster Area
Yes we make a full day out of the sprinkler area at Eden. DD LOVES it.
We only do 2 nights so we just go to DW one day- and yes you can spend a full day there. They have a water area too so we do dry rides in the morning, then lunch, then the water park- and a day at the hotel water area. That's the day we arrive usually. Get there, check in and relax at the hotel pool/water area. They will deliver food and drinks to you poolside.
I never did the other area attractions yet.
In terms of restaurants, I have yet to find anything "special" there. I find the restaurants in the area to be marginal at best. Fine for the kids, but nothing special at all.
I guess I'm a spoiled NYer!

We did two nights at Eden last year.
We got there around lunchtime and went to the pool. We went out for dinner at Red Robin and then went to DW for the preview - if you buy a ticket, you also get access for the three hours before closing on another day free of charge. We did so much during the preview.
We went back the next day and met up with family. We were there from open until about 3pm and went back to the hotel to hang out.

We went last summer. We spent one full day at cherry crest adventure farm which is about 10 minutes away from Dutch wonderland. We all enjoyed it so much. There is so much to do for the whole family. We stayed at the Amish inn and suites and there is a restaurant attached that had very good Amish style meals. Enjoy!

From their website it looks like the preview is only the night before - do you know if it has changed?

The preview night has to be used before your full day. Your full day does not have to be consecutive with the preview. You could use your full day the next week, the next month, or the next year (if you pay the difference between the old and new fare)

We spent a few hours at the Kettle Kitchen place. Some shops, a small playground and petting zoo and Amish buggy rides. DD got to sit up front and drive the buggy.

I highly recommend when your in Easton for the Crayola Factory to stop at the Bank Street Creamery, was The Purple Cow, same is berms they just changed the name. It's great. I went to college there, still love getting ice cream there when I visit campus. If your doing lunch there a Pearly Bakers has great burgers and is on the circle right near the factory.

Re: Dutch Wonderland / Lancaster Area
cherry crest farms! you can spend the day there. great for kids !!
kitchen kettle village is nice too. you can catcha buggy ride there, they have a few small shops, food, a petting farm, pony rides
traditional amish restaurants would be Millers or Shady Maple for a smorgasbord. There is Good n Plenty or Plain n Fancy for a sit down family style amish dinner.

As in "adult drinks" served to you at the pool? I've been looking at their site and see nothing about this food/drink service.... tell me more... are the prices reasonable?

Dutch Wonderland / Lancaster Area
The Hands-on-House, like a please touch museum. 721 Landis Valley Road, Lancaster
Kitchen Kettle Village. Shopping, horse and buggy rides, culture and an amazing place to have an authentic lunch. 3529 Old Philadelphia Pike, Intercourse PA.
Intercourse Pretzel Factory. There is an awesome pretzel making demo and hands-on session for children and they can eat the pretzel they made! So much fun for kids. It's in the Cross Keys Village center, 3614 Old Philadelphia Pike, Intercourse.
The Turkey Hill Ice Cream Factory experience. Learn about Ice Cream and eat enough of it to explode, lol. 301 Linden Street, Columbia, PA.
The Amish Farm and House. This one is very interesting. The actual house and farm are behind a very commercial and modern industrial area, but since it was the first ever Amish attraction in the US, it has been preserved. They go into "how" on the tour. There's so much to do. Animals on the farm, a bus tour, Covered bridge experience, horse and buggy rides, an old schoolhouse and quiltmaking. 2395 Lincoln Highway East, Lancaster.
Have fun!

Oh heck yes! Its delivery of the onsite restaurant. They have menus by the pool. You can get booze as well as burgers, salads, sandwiches, kids meals. The whole menu of the restaurant. Prices are reasonable.

I will be 7 months pregnant then - too bad I won't be enjoying adult beverages by the pool!
