skin treatments & expenses question
Today I consulted a great dermatologist about some sun spots that I have on my face. I also have some areas that have lost pigment due to another condition. She proposed a laser treatment for one of the sun spots that is large and she proposed microdermabrasion to even out everything else. The treatments wouldn't be covered under insurance. Is this something I'm supposed to price shop for?

You could but when it comes to a doctor and doing procedures you always want to be a little "buyer beware" about going with the cheaper option. Because even if the type of treatment you are getting is the same -- like, say, for example: Velashape. If I was getting Velashape from Dr. A and Velashape from Dr. B - yes, it's the same type of treatment but the DOCTOR PERFORMING it is different. And you want to go with a doc you trust who is board certified and reputable.
For me, that's so important - especially when dealing with the face!
So, I wouldn't always jump at the cheaper option if shopping around when it comes to this type of thing. KWIM?
I highly recommend Dr. Donna Serure in Smithtown if you want to price her out for the same treatment.

Thank you. I do agree that I should not decide solely on price. I will not even do something like buy a massage Groupon from a place I've never heard of. My quote was actually from Dr. Serure. I liked her a lot, which is great because I am not a fan of Dr. Peredo, who is also in Smithtown and she offers these things. When I had a skin cancer removed I had a plastic surgeon do the stitches. I could see what his office does. I have very sensitive skin so that is a factor in all of this.
