I can't stop worrying that..
So, as some of you may remember we had a scare after an abnormal NT scan. We had to do tons of follow up testing and thankfully everything turned out okay. However, those weeks were awful for me. I was a nervous wreck, crying all the time etc. lately, I've been really paranoid that my level of stress has permanently affected the baby. Has anyone had a very stressful pregnancy and had a happy , calm baby ? I just feel really worried. Thanks ! ETA: When I said calm I just meant a generally well adjusted kid, without major anxiety etc. I don't mean energetic or fussy.

I can't stop worrying that..
I had a very stressful pregnancy from day one. I had huge issues with my sister who is bi-polar and she made my life a living hell for two weeks because my parents were on vacation and she had no one else to bother. We still don't speak because of those issues.
Then I had all the issues with the genetic testing. They could not get blood out of me. Took three people seven tries and still nothing. I had to go home and go back the next day where they took me to the oncology unit to get a nurse there to try. Three more pricks and they finally got blood out of the top of my forearm. Then the waiting for the test for 10 days. All I did was stress and cry. Even when I got the results back that said all was good, I still stressed about everything and cried about everything.
Well my son is now 13 months and he is the happiest little guy around. Anyone that meets him tells me so. He's (Thank God) so healthy, never had more than a cold. He's not what I would call calm, he's always on the move, but he's very happy and healthy and that's what counts.
You are going to be fine <3

I don't think emotional stress effects your baby. But, neither of my babies have been calm or quiet... They are totally normal preschoolers.

when they say emotional stress can affect your baby, they mean severe emotional and physical trauma, like getting trapped in a building during an earthquake.
i had an incredibly stressful pregnancy with the twins. my brother died when i was about 20 weeks. i had to take xanax to get through the funeral. my twins are happy and healthy today.

DH was going through a HORRIBLE time at work, actually ended up changing jobs not 2 weeks before I ended up giving birth.... It was HORRIBLE some nights, DS is an INCREDIBLE almost 5 month old - I have friends that hate me because of how amazing he is....
My bff lost her mom tragically in her 7th month of pregnancy as many of you have read on my posts (she was hit and killed by a car while walking her neighborhood). Our Goddaughter is amazing, has been a perfect angel, she's 10 months old.
Our SIL's sister has a 7 month old who is a horror, she's always yelling, was completely collicky, just a real brat... her pregnancy was completely uneventful and totally calm.
I'm sure your little one will be amazing.

Nothing can guaranty you a happy calm baby. I had a pretty stress free pregnancy and my DS was a crying mess.
Just try to take things day by day and thats all you can do.

Re: I can't stop worrying that..
I was very stressed my 3rd pregnancy being home with my two young kids and DH working a lot at the time. I was yelling, screaming, freaking out at the littlest things...I thought for sure my baby was going to come out to be the most unhappy, cranky baby! Turns out she was my calmest one! haha...go figure!
Don't stress too much, It was only a few weeks, so I'm sure everything will be fine!

Re: I can't stop worrying that..
With my first, I had an uneventful pregnancy. My DS turned out fine. He is almost 6. With my second, we had a scare at the 20 week sono. They saw an echogenic bowel and I had the Maternity21 testing. I became a high risk pregnancy and things got a lot more "intense" as a result. It was SUCH a different pregnancy than my first! DD was born perfect and now, at almost 2 years old, is the most sweet, pleasant, easy-going kid around. I am so blessed to have her. I just looked at her tonight and thought to myself that everything I prayed for during those awful months came true. She is perfect! Don't worry about your stress level. I'm sure your baby will be perfect too.

Re: I can't stop worrying that..
I had a terrible, high risk, dramatic pregnancy with DS. My son is the calmest, most mellow kid. He has a very easy going spirit and is a very sweet boy. I am having a very uneventful pregnancy this time and I worry that this means I could be giving birth to a total terror! Anyway, based on my experience, I don't think emotional stress has an effect on your baby.

Same. My pregnancy was pretty routine, nothing overly stressful and my DD was born screaming like nothing I had ever heard and didn't stop for the first year of her life. She was a horrible horrible newborn who cried all teh time. It was awful and it's one of the reasons I am now one and done.
So I really don't thing the stress of the mother while pregnant has any bearing on the disposition of the child.

Crashing - a relative of mine was 5 months pregnant when she found out her husband had been shot and his spinal cord was severed, paralyzing him... Their son was born without incident and super healthy, well adjusted and happy.

Didn't mean to bum you out! Just wanted to show you how much stress you can REALLY be under and still have everything turn out totally and 100% fine!
And don't worry, my relative was in the military when it happened, he has a wonderful life with his wife and son and they are very happy. Didn't want to just present the doom and gloom part of it lol.

Re: I can't stop worrying that..
Don't worry about it. It'd be different if u had a stressful/tense pregnant for a long time or during the whole pregnancy. But if it was only for a couple of weeks, u really shouldn't worry about it. I'm not sure how much time u have left but just make sure to touch ur belly constantly and talk to ur baby for as much as u can =)

I didn't know a 7 month can be a brat. Like a baby can control themselves.
