I'm pretty sure you just need to go to the hospital as soon as labor starts to get antibiotics in your IV.

Once you're in labor make sure you get to the hospital so they can give you antibiotics through your IV

I had it with my first pregnancy. When I got induced I told them I had it and they just gave me an IV for the antibiotics.

I had it fro dd2. not dd1 but they just need to give you IV meds. I think you need to have it in your system for 4 hours before giving birth. DD came pretty quick it was like just at the amount i needed to have it.

Yup, you just need to get to the hospital As soon as you can because you do need 4 hours on the IV antibiotics.

If you labor faster than that they have to monitor the baby and possibly take blood for tests.

In most cases it's not a big deal at all, but you need to get those antibiotics.

This is how it was for me, except I'm allergic to penicillin so they gave me another antibiotic instead... and I ended up having a reaction to it anyway! So just be sure to address any medicine allergies if that's a concern Chat Icon

I had it with DS1. As everyone has said - no big deal, just an IV drip of an antibiotic before (and during) labor.

For me, I ran a slight fever through delivery - which, combined with the Strep status, made them put DS in the NICU till he cleared a 48-hour strep test. He was fine - it was just a standard protocol.

Same thing happened with me. Ds1 it was negative. Ds2 they found it in my urine. You need antibioitics. My labor was so fast that I didn't get the whole dose before having ds2. I asked what happens now and they told me they just keep a close eye on him and gets more frequent vitals.
