Re: whooping cough vaccine?

I got it at about 33/34 weeks. I chose,to do it ahead of time because it take a bit in your system. My ob said if I wanted it and didn't do it ahead of time I could get it at the hospital.

whooping cough vaccine?

I am nervous about this one. I didn't get the flu shot either, because I just don't feel comfortable with these things passing to my unborn baby. I just don't feel like there is enough study out there to confirm effects later on.
I didn't get it with my daughter 4 years ago, it wasn't even offered to be honest, so I don't think I am going to get it. I will wait until they give it to me in the hospital, and him at his checkup.

Nobody offered it to me when pregnant in 2010 nor in the hospital. Nobody even mentioned it to me!

My doctor said that more and more cases are being reported. It appears to be on the rise so it might not have been such an issue in 2010.

In addition to what my doctor said, I found this link to be really useful as a guide to get the vaccine during pregnancy:

Yeah doesn't surprise me that it's on the rise. Like measles too. All due to people chosing not to vaccinate. Polio will be next. Scary.

whooping cough vaccine?

I got the whooping cough vaccine while I was pregnant this time but got it after I had my son in 2012. I will say as I sit here in the PICU with my 13 day old baby that I would do whatever I could to give my baby the most protection before she is born. My baby has rsv so there wasn't anything I could do to protect her from this but if there was a vaccine I could have gotten I absolutely would have.

Whooping cough is no joke and if you can protect your baby from getting sick and being in our situation I would!

This is a new recommendation. When I was pregnant the past two time it wasn't recommended until after you delivered.

My doctor said it is recommended pregnant women get the vaccine with each pregnancy, no matter how much time in between. With my first, I think I got it in the hospital right after I delivered and with my second I think I got the vaccine in my third trimester.

I was supposed to get the vaccine after delivering the baby in the hospital. Guess something changed because it was given to me at my last OB appointment.

32 weeks today and got it at my OB appointment yesterday. I was told that anyone who will be close to the baby should get the vaccine i.e. Grandparents, Siblings (not sure about kids but Aunts and Uncles)

My OB said that I could get it in the hospital, but suggests that I get it in the next several weeks.
