I was going to say I heard the recovery was so tough that I'd rather be fat. But now that I'm hearing it's similar to a c-section I say go for it! I had a c-section and felt 95% back to normal the next day.

And the shaming is really unnecessary. My dd was worth sacrificing my size 2 body for but that doesn't mean I wouldn't jump at the chance to have it back.

Ugh jealous! I was taking the Percocet for 3 weeks after mine (c-section). I couldn't even climb into my bed for at least 2 weeks. Never again lol.

Thanks for all the info ladies. I heard it was a horrible recovery as well but sounds like it might not be too bad. It's not something I'd be doing until after in down having kids and they're a little older but it is something I can see doing in the future.

I'm confused by this thread because I keep reading responses talking about doing it to fit in smaller sizes or not be "fat" etc...but isn't a tummy tuck for loose skin?. I didn't realize it was a weight loss thing. Am I mistaken? Do they do lipo with it to remove fat or is it just for loose, hanging skin like after a pregancy or major weight loss?
Like the kind of thing that all the diet and exercise in the world won't fix?

It isnt for weight loss.

My comment was because I feel I still have a little extra skin left over that couldve been removed. But if I stick to a good ab routine it tightens.

As for smaller sizes. Once the skin is removed it can help with sizing.

Ets: I was so happy I no longer needed to tuck my belly in my pants. Chat Icon The jeans fit so much nicer because of it.

Yeah I thought so. I was referring to the comments about getting a pre baby size 2 body back etc.

Re: Tummy tuck

Id like to do it one day also, I have SO much loose skin from my pregnancies. No amount of diet or exercise can fix it. Sometimes, mama needs to feel good about herself. Great to those who it doesn't bother, but some it does. Doesn't mean they won't miss picking up their kids, they can still cuddle them. I believe she was asking for experiences on it, not if you feel people shouldn't do it bc of XY and Z, unless we are talking about complications/recovery from it and that is why she wouldn't do it. No one deserves a medal for not doing it, and its not what she was asking. We are all different and if some women are OK with it and are comfortable with how your body now looks or have made peace with it, doesn't mean everyone feels that way.

Anyway, OP, Id be interested in hearing too. I feel your pain. I want to have that done and have my boobs put back where they came from...a full mommy makeover.

That was me, you're right a regular tummy tuck wouldn't get rid of fat, but they're often done with lipo (more often than not) so that's what I had in my head.

My cousin had one AND a boob job at the same time. Recovery wasnt easy but she got through it with help from family and friends. Now she looks and feels great. She was VERY petite and had three back to back and it took a toll on her body. She wanted to feel good in a bathing suit and feel sexy again, there is nothing wrong with that! I would do it too if I felt I needed it when the time comes. Life is about whatever makes YOU happy so ignore everyone else.

Me too! Best thing I ever did for myself. I don't give a flying fluck what anyone else has to say about it!

Do your research, pick a qualified surgeon and arrange for family/ friend to help you lift for a few weeks.

Pain was no worse than any other abdominal surgery.

It did not make me "skinny", but it did repair the 4 hernias that I had from 2 pregnancies. The muscles are pulled back together and extra skin is removed. Liposuction is commonly done during the surgery. You won't lose weight, but you will look and feel more comfortable.

I had mine done when my last baby was 5 months old.

Good Luck and do whatever makes you happy!??

I agree! If you find an amazing doctor when you decide to do this surgery, please pm me. Definitely want to get this done or maybe lipo in this area plus my boobs.

Gotcha . I was just curious what the procedure entailed now a days. Like my stomach is not perfectly flat but I think it's more from ass sitting and cookie butter than loose skin so I don't think a tummy tuck would be my answer. Chat Icon

Tummy tuck

A friend of mine had one and she said it was the best thing she ever did. She said it was painful at first but not has bad as she thought. She said hers took a while for the swelling to all go away but she is thrilled with the outcome.

I do not if I would do it but I am all for anyone who wants to do something to make themselves feel better about themselves. Self confidence comes from many things.

Re: Tummy tuck

I'd be interested in a tummy tuck one day, I've tossed around the idea but I'm not going to lie, elective surgery does make me nervous. I also had two REALLY awful C-section recoveries and if having a tummy tuck is anything like that pain and recovery I don't think I could go through with it. We'll see, I'm not ready to do anything in the near future but maybe down the road. I'm interested to hear any experiences as well.

Do your research on drs. I think there is a website that will show you before and after photos and things that can possibly go wrong. I think it was something like heal me dot com or something like that...

Good Luck!

Re: Tummy tuck

My cousin had one and ended up with a horrible infection. I'm not sure how much research she did on the doctor though. Horrible.

If you have snapchat, follow DRMIAMI. He does them all day (as well as butt augmentations lol) and posts the surgeries live so you can watch. I say do whatever makes you happy!

Tummy tuck

I would love to do it one day. I'm going to try to work out to see if it helps but I don't think my stomach will ever be firm again after 2 babies and 2 csections.

My girlfriend did a tummy tuck 2 years ago and has 0 regrets. She said the recovery was a little rough but not unbearable.

She since has gained weight but her stomach is still flat. She said its the best thing she ever did for herself and definitely boosted her confidence.

ETA my friend did have drains...

Make sure you do research on a good doctor and go for it!!

The drains are placed to drain excess fluid from the area following surgery to prevent seroma formation and infection. Once they are draining less than a certain amount, the doctor will remove them. Typically its around a week.

I have worked on several lawsuits involving these procedures and, despite that, I have every intention of getting that and breast augmentation after I'm done having babies and have lost the baby weight. Besides the recovery being rough, another issue with these procedures is having unrealistic expectations. It's not going to make you skinny or look like Jillian Michaels. In fact, on most occasions, it's just the abdominoplasty and then liposuction to the tummy can be done at a later time to protect the vascularization of the abdomen. Some surgeons will do lipo of the flanks at the same time but usually not the belly. Its important that you have the excess weight off so that you can get the result you are seeking. Also, make sure you get a great surgeon. That makes a world of difference.

Re: Tummy tuck

I had a tummy tuck after 2 c-sections, and both my kids were over 9 lbs. each.

I had a larger umbillical hernia and diastasis recti (when you abdominal muscles split apart). No amount of dieting and exercise would ever repair that, as per the several surgeons I consulted. And abdominal exercises could actually be worse for hernias.

I opted to have a tummy tuck to feel better about myself. I did NOT have a tummy tuck to lose weight. And I did not go into it thinking it was a quick fix. Because tummy tucks do neither of those things.

I had my first consults 3 months after my 2nd child was born. I was actually going for breast augmentation, but we talked about my hernia and abdomen too. Turns out, I needed a breast lift more than augmentation, and I decided to do the tummy tuck too.

Recovery was tough. I had help with the kids. I stayed overnight after the surgeries. I also had a bad infection, which made my recovery almost horrible. It took many months for the swelling to go down. I looked bloated for a while, but that is also due in part to the fact that I was less than one-year post-partum when I had the surgery.

I have a hip-to-hip scar and it can be a pain in the a$$ finding bikini bottoms that cover the scar completely. I'm not complaining, just stating how it is. The fact that I can still rock a bikini in my 40's is awesome.

And by the way, I love my kids and I love that my body created them. I think a woman's body is f-ing amazing. I'm in awe of what we can do. I also love that I have my confidence back and that my tummy matches the rest of my body.
I do more of this Chat Icon , and this Chat Icon , and this Chat Icon .

I don't have any advice, but this is SO on my list of things to do. Along with a breast reduction. Hopefully in the not-so-distant future, so I will be watching this thread for information!

Re: Tummy tuck

i am 42 (will be 43 by the end of the month), i have a doctor in line (who i will be calling after my birthday).

i have three cousins who did it. they each have at least two kiddos. they all love the results. one is a school teacher and did it while home over the summer. the other two said that they slept in a chair/recliner for a while (sorry, don't know how long that was).

i already have set up what recliner i'll be sleeping on and my "recovery team."

i'm hoping to have first-hand experience before this winter. i'll let you know how it goes.

ps. if i had the money and recovery time, there are a few other "minor" things i'd like to do... but alas, i'm a poor girl from a poor family and will just get the tummy tuck.

Tummy tuck

Honestly I had discussed with my OB prior to my last csection to remove the excess skin (basically a tummy tuck) after my DS was delivered. Well I had complications during my csection that it wasn't done(csection itself took 3 hours my insides were a hot mess). I am almost 10 months post partum and have amazing abs due to exercise(besides the little pouch that I can't get rid of w/o surgery). Confident and comfortable even in a 2 piece(tried it on tonight).
