Scheduling well visits at your ped

Does anyone else's pediatrician book up an insane amount of time in advance for well visits? I just called to schedule my DS' well visit for August and they were booked until September... Even with my DD her well visits have been at least a month after her scheduled time due to the appointments booked (for example, 9 month well visit done at closer to 10.5 months). I don't think I have ever had this problem before, just wanted to know if this is the norm.

not for well visits, I always book the day of a well visit for the following one,next month.

Physicals on the other hand are months out. Somehow I missed scheduling dd's 6 yr physical and they never called, which they usually do months ahead, and getting an appointment was crazy and this is a big office. dh's I scheduled for him, it was months out as well.

mine is like that i usually have to wait min 2 weeks other times it can be a month because of my schedule as well with work.

I have never had that issue at my pediatrician's office and I usually try to only make them at night or on a Saturday.

Mine isn't bad but I am flexible as to when I want an appt. I don;t need certain days or times more of the time. But I will say end of summer is not a good time to get appts as it is back to school/sports physical time.

My son's birthday is right smack in the middle of school physicals, so I'm used to them being booked.

I don't have this problem, but then again I'm flexible with days and times for the most part. Are you trying for Saturday's or evening hours?

I also always book far in advance bc I'm crazy

My ped sends out a reminder about 2 months in advance to make an appointment. I haven't had any problems and my dad bday is in August. We do have longer wait times in August though.

My practice has multiple doctors. If i want a specific doctor who is extremely popular i need to book well in advance. I usually book all well visits 6 months out as this is how far they allow. If i dont i can use one of the other docs in the practice relatively quickly.... but i dont like to do that. For sick visits i dont really mind, but for well visits i like sticking with the same doc.

That happens with my pediatrician but it's because everyone wants to make an app with her.

I thought that if u need to make an app while u're in the office, they're suppose to double book u, no?

mine is like that. you have to book 6 months ahead of time or else they will give your child to a different doctor. to a new one!

Yes. I make the appt months in advance. When we are in the office for a well, I schedule her next well visit. So she went for her 2 year checkup beginning of June and her 30 month well is already scheduled for Dec.

I can usually call the week off and get an appointment. I may not get the time in want, but I don't have to make the appointment months in.advance

Yes I have to make their appointments months in advance if I want to have a shot at picking a time/day that's convenient for us.

I think that month is just tricky with school physicals. My ped also takes off 2 weeks in August which doesn't help.

yes, well visits are tricky, but I have never had a problem with them getting in within a few hours from when I call with a concern or.illness. I think they leave a lot.of their day open for sick visits, which I prefer. I dont mind waiting for a well visit when I know.I can get in right away when they're actually sick or if there is an emergency.

August is always filled up with people for sports and school physicals ... I'd book six months in advance for that one... I booked my July appointments for my kids five months ago
