Re: If the election was today?

the responses on this post vs. the poll results just go to show that so many who lean right, can't stay anything without fear of being attacked and labeled as a racist or "uneducated". The silent majority is HUGE, I think November is going to be very upsetting for most of the ladies on these boards.

To be fair, I clicked the wrong button. So -1 for Trump. Chat Icon I hope I don't make the same mistake in November. Chat Icon

You shouldn't feel silenced and I'm sorry you feel that way. I know there are fundamental differences and that's part of life and not everyone will agree (or change their mind). I do think it's good to be open to hearing the other side to try to understand where the other side is coming from. Like I said before, I really think most of us have some common ground.

Id love to see the educational background of the Trump voters on this thread..I bet there is a correlation- the less educated, the higher chances of leaning to Trump. I am voting for HRC all the way, as anti-Trump because I cant fathom him being CIC (Commander in Chief) and I care about SCOTUS nominees.

http://www.businessinsider.com/proof-republicans-really-are-dumber-than-democrats-2012-5

I'm surprised you, as an attorney, would say that. I'm an attorney as well and I am sure I don't have to tell you that there are many firm republicans in this industry. The large majority of the firm I work for are pro-Trump and are not shy about it. I also do a lot of work with very well educated people - physicians to business owners- who are very pro-Trump. The mentality of your statement is like when people were saying all of the Sanders supporters are unemployed pot heads who want freebies. I'm sure the large majority of Sanders supporters on this site are are not that at all.

For the record, I also don't believe that just because someone possesses a higher education degree makes them any more intelligent than someone who does not. I think it's irrelevant.

How exactly do statements like that add to discussions? They just distract and add fuel to an already hot topic.

Funny. Your liberal friends make comments like that all the time. Go ask them.

Shame on them as well then. I have said this IRL, the problem with politics is it seems that everyone is hellbent on being right and ignoring that having a different point of view is not wrong. Honestly, I've read people state that people on the other side of the aisle are "mentally ill" because their beliefs don't line up with theirs. It's disheartening.

Perhaps it's because they are embarrassed to admit that they will be voting for someone who mocked the disabled, calls women pigs, calls Mexicans rapists, treats people that worked for him like crap and stiffed them wages, loves Saddam Hussein and Putin, tweets out quotes from white supremacists, won't release his tax returns, has the mental capacity of a 4 year old, doesn't know who Tim Kaine is...

I'd be embarrassed too.

If the election was today?

I am voting for women's rights, rights of the LGBTA community, for religious freedom, for those that feel like they do not have a voice, for every minority out there - whether it be race, religious, sexuality whatever!!!!!

So I am not voting for one single person....I am voting for those views! One party has that and the other does not. I don't see things as black and white.....there is so much in between and we need to look big picture. I do not want my 4 year old son growing up to think that little girl next to him is any different than him, that the kid sitting next to him at school may look different but he should not be treated any differently.

I cannot vote for hate!

Bottom line. Nobody on this board is going to change anyone else's mind.

So....

Go vote for who YOU want to vote for. That's the beauty of a free country.

Go vote for Trump, Go vote for Hillary, Go vote 3rd party, go write in Mickey Mouse.

Just go do whatever the eff you want and stop feeling you have to defend it on a message board.

This thread has gotten way out of hand, and for what?
Nobody is going to change anyone's mind and then it just gets nasty on both sides.

No one is embarrassed. People just don't want to deal with you women clawing their eyes out for having a different opinion. I proudly say I am voting for Trump and I could give two shitsss what anyone thinks. As a hispanic/arabic/italian/american I will proudly vote for Trump.

Yet no one has still responded about what exactly it is about Trump that they like. Why are you voting FOR him - it seems like its just a reaction to Hillary for the most part.

Same feelings exactly. It's ridiculous. That was such an insult what was posted earlier about education correlation with a trump vote.

I feel like the liberals on this site constantly feel the need to list and detail all the wonderful reasons HRC should be president, thread after thread, post after post, comment after comment. And then the second someone says the reason they are voting for trump (or not voting for the beloved HRC) the insults start flying.
So done.

November will be here soon enough.

Enlighten me on how this is a media fueled liberal response? These are all FACTS. Things he actually did and said. What makes any of it media-fueled or liberal?

Congrats on being proud of voting for him. Can you state any of his specific PLANS that have won you over? I'm genuinely asking.

I have been quietly reading these boards since 2005. I received some wonderful support at a difficult time, and have exchanged many FMs with some lovely people, both offering advice and receiving advice. My daughter has a disability. One day, and I know the day will come, the kids at school are going to make fun of her and we are going to have to deal with that. Another child in her class has a more noticeable disability. The kids make fun of him. She cries when she tells me about it, and we talk about it and how to handle it. The other day I had to explain to her why a presidential candidate from a major political party openly mocked a person with a disability. I had to explain to her what kind of person does that.
I really have nothing more to say but this, because no minds are going to be changed, but that is what I wanted to contribute.

exactly! I'm actually still undecided. I don't like either option and I'm not a fan of writing a name in there.

That being said...I think most Trump supporters keep their mouths closed because they are smarter and know they are wasting their time by arguing.

ETA: I can't believe anyone has this much free time to argue about politics.
I think all of us can (or should) find something better to do with our time, rather than sitting here all day insulting each others political opinions.

There's the old adage
“Never argue with a fool, onlookers may not be able to tell the difference.”

Wow. Way to Chat Icon

I know plenty of ridiculously well educated and intelligent people who are so dumb when it comes to common sense to the point where you forget that they're geniuses. So I think this argument is bs.

It's not an argument, it's my observation. The DNC so far has put on a classier act and message of positivity than that of the RNC. I watched the RNC and sad to discover Trump has no specific policy proposals and his entire rhetoric devolves into hatred and negativity. i have yet to hear a cogent argument for why Trump would make a better POTUS than Hillary. I happen to be a registered Independent and voted 3rd party in last 2 elections, but there's no way I can logically place my support behind the GOP or Trump given his entire platform focuses on exclusion and not inclusion.

I am 100% anti-trump and can't fathom why anyone supports him. (BTW I am not saying I am pro hillary but If I have to vote for her to not have Trump I will). I would love to know why you would vote for him. I know people are going to say its none of your business but I really want to understand why anyone will vote for him. Not because I think you are a racist or small minded because I want to know what is he saying that makes you back him up?

When i hear people chant build that wall I feel like that's the only reason why anyone backs home which I know probably isn't true but what is it that he is saying that makes you want to vote for him
