Re: Pay question

If everything is processed correctly then you should be paid on your first check.

Pay question

So as long as you're in the system and did all your paperwork you definitely should!

Re: Pay question

I have heard of people getting paid right away. Unfortunately I was not one of them last year. I was hired as a leave replacement at the end of August last year. I started the 2nd week of September and did not see a paycheck until November. But thats because all of the paperwork had not been processed. It was a nightmare.

I too was also just hired for a full time job. I am in the system though already because of last years position. I have anxiety over it though bc "what if" it gets held up again?
Good luck to you and congrats!!!!

Pay question- UPDATED WITH ANOTHER QUESTION

If you have a masters in education you are fine. You can start at the MA step.

And for anyone else reading this, your BA and Master's can be anything. The DOE (and suburban districts, AFAIK) doesn't look at the subject of your degrees for salary purposes.

What you study matters for certification, of course, but not salary.

The reason I was asking also is because I wasn't sure if I should apply for the Promotional differential (MA)

or

the Intermediate which requires the BA + 60 credits including MA or 36 cr. in area of specialization.

I have my BA (not in Education), an additional 18 credits that I needed to take to enter the MA program in Education, my MA - 48 credits, and then 6cr. for additional cert.
That all equates to a BA + 72 credits (including MA)

But I called HR connect and they told me in order to apply for the Intermediate -my BA would have had to have been in Education.

I'm so glad you asked this. My BA and MS are both in education, so I'd apply for the intermediate (BA plus 60) correct?

Yes- I think so- just call HR Connect and double check. I feel like every time I call I get a different answer about stuff.

See the chart at the bottom of the page. http://schools.nyc.gov/Employees/Teachers/Career/Salary/Differentials/Eligibility.htm These complicated questions tend to get different answers each time you call HR Connect so you should do your own reseearch.
