When did you start not having your child in diapers for naps or overnight sleeping??

Re: overnight potty trainning
DD just woke up dry and asked me why I was putting a diaper on her. She never wet her bed.
DS was forcibly night trained just before 6 with the night alarm.
I Day trained both very early (2) so it was a separate process.

overnight potty trainning
My oldest was already waking dry when she potty trained so I never had her in pullups for naps or night and she never had any accidents.
My second trained younger and while she was fine for naps from day one I had her in pullups at night for the first few months. I waited until she was dry for a at least 2 weeks straight. We tried to avoid letting her drink a lot in the evening and I only put about 2 ounces of water in the cup she brings to bed. She did have occasional accidents or sometimes woke up to go potty but after a few months all that stopped.

I've read so many places that night training is different than day training--- that its a hormone that needs to develop in the kids that wakes them up to go, or helps them hold it for so long. So i wouldn't stress about it. My DS is 6. he wakes up dry pretty much every day, but i still put him in an overnight pull-up/underwear thing at night, just in case. He is NON-STOP energy all day, and he just totally passes out at night Theres once in a blue moon that he literally just doesn't wake up to go. And Its more important to me that he gets sleep and not waking up in the middle of the night to change sheets and all that.

Re: overnight potty trainning
My son was more or less immediately nap trained. He is just now getting better overnight (he's been day trained since January and is now 3.5). He has been waking up dry for about 2 weeks. I am still putting a diaper on him for the foreseeable future though since I have a ton left and would prefer not to have to clean a wet bed in the middle of the night.

Just wanted to a tip. I put a disposable waterproof pad (the blue and white hospital chucks) in between two fitted sheets. This way when dd had a accident I could just pull that off and her bed was good to go. Still not fun but much easier than changing sheets.

Re: overnight potty trainning
Once my kids were potty trained they never needed a pullup for naps. Nighttime is another ballgame...and 3.5 and 4.5 they both wear pullups to bed. I won't stop having them wear them until they wake up dry for a few days in a row.

This is a great tip! I still do this for my 6-year-old who has an accident once a year... but still much easier to strip off the top sheet and put her right back to bed!

Ugh ds is 3.5. He has been potty trained since the week he turned two. Yet he still wakes up soaked every morning. I don't see night time diapers stopping any time soon

DS did it all at once. He was waking up dry so he was ready. DD trained earlier and has no problems during the day, but still wakes up wet overnight, so she's in a diaper overnight. Overnight is physiological so you can't force it.

Re: overnight potty trainning
This thread is such a relief... but, I'm not sure what to do about the "wake up dry" thing. DD woke up with her diaper FULL of pee and then one day, around 4 years old, said "can I try not using the diaper" and never looked back.
DS, now 4.5, wakes up with a diaper full of pee and I don't think I'd trust him to try a night in underwear if he asked me. I don't know what sign I'm looking for, I guess eventually I'll switch to a pull-up and tell him he can leave his bed to go to the bathroom but I feel like he'd get me involved every time that happened at some awful hour and I'm not quite prepared to deal with that
