How often do you use a sitter for date nights?

Just wanted to a take a little poll to see how often other parents are getting out for date nights. I don't mean if you use a sitter to watch your kids for overall daily/weekly childcare purposes... more like the evening out for dinner with your SO and/or friends.

Recently, DH and I have been on a once a week kind of pattern and sometimes I wonder if that's too often to be leaving the kids (although it's usually in the evening only an hour or so before their bedtime anyway). At the same time, having those evenings out gives us much needed alone time that we really appreciate so I think that's important too.

How about everyone else?

ETA: I meant just like an out for a few hours kind of sitter or relative watching your kids, not like an overnighter. Although some weeks I wish I could do that more often

2-3 times a a month - we're super lucky that my mom always volunteers to take them overnight - they're with her usually one weekend a month (so that frees up Friday and Saturday nights for us) and then we have a sitter that the boys ADORE watch them one other weekend night.

Once in 6 years. But it was not a date night, it was to go to a wedding.

Over the summer we do once a week usually. During the winter it's like 1 a month or less. It's important for us.

I've never used a sitter other than family at night

In terms of an actual date night maybe once every 4-5 months with family. Overnight we left dd a total of 7 nights in over 3 years with family, and ds will be a year this month and we've never left him.

My and DH don't go out often mostly because he hates going out to eat and we don't really see movies. I, on the other hand, will go out with girlfriends often

if we did like to go out I wouldn't see anything wrong with going out once a week.

A few times a year we go out and grandparents watch the kids. Partly bc dh doesn't like eating out and I hate going to movies. I guess we lack the creativity and funds to find other stuff to do.

We used to never for the first 4 years only if we had either a wedding or some other event we'd been invited to. Never just a spontaneous "let's go out" kinda thing. Over the summer I got kinda sad that we never did date nights & I talked to DH about it so now we try to go out somewhere in the evening just for us, like a late dinner after the kids are already asleep, maybe once every few months.

We go out once every few months. The last time we went out was over the summer, and we plan to go to brunch this weekend for our anniversary. We probably won't go out again until maybe around Christmas.

It's mostly as a money saving thing, not a don't want to leave the kids thing. If we could afford to go out once a week and had an available sitter, I'd totally do it!

once a month, if not more lol. We put the baby to bed then my girls go to bed for the sitter. We go out late like 7/7:30. I ask my HS sitter ehen she can and if she can we go. It's nice I like. I am a SAHM and need the break. My DH loves to go out. We have no family around

Not enough!!! Maybe once every 4-6 months. It's not because we have any reservations with leaving our kids its just that we have a hard time finding the time.

I'd say once a month or so. We have a list of restaurants we want to try and attempt to hit one a month. DD's old daycare teacher watches her.

We'd definitely go on date nights more often if we lived closer to family. DS2 is a lot to handle and he tests people. We need to find a local babysitter, but haven't gotten around to it. We do get to go out when my family visits or we visit my family and sometimes DH's family will offer to watch the kids too. We had a wedding this summer, which was nice to get out for the night. We were supposed to go out before baby #3 arrived, but my water broke less than 2 hours before our date night. We made up for it 5 weeks later and went out for our anniversary instead.

Probably once or twice a month - often they are already sleeping when we go out to dinner, we like to eat late.

Never. I have been telling DH we should start, but he trusts no one besides the grandparents.
