Play Date Help
Help!!
I had a boy from my DS's kindergarten class over a few weeks ago- the mom came brought fruit salad in a crystal bowl (of course she took the leftover and bowl home) and she brought me a present- she works for a high end make up company... so I know she gets the stuff cheap or maybe even free what do I bring to our play date at her house this weekend? A candle?? Flowers??? I was also going to bake cookies (I know her son has no allergies) Thanks - play dates I think have to be worse than internet dating

No need to give a gift. Bringing over cookies is fine. We usually bring a treat for the first few playdates but once the kids start playing together more frequently we stop doing that as well.

Re: Play Date Help
Food is great. I like to bring some yummy treats when we visit friends or go for a play date, depending on the season... like in summer I like to bring lemonade and pie, in the winter cookies and hot chocolate.. something like that. Also a small book or puzzle or something little for the kid(s). Not really necessary but just something small as a thank you for them having you over.

Play Date Help
I've had so many play dates and I have never brought a gift. I will bring a treat though but not an actual gift.

Agree with the others. Bring a snack, skip the gift.

A gift?? That seems ridiculous and would make me totally uncomfortable. I agree with pp and would bring munchkins, mini muffins, etc.

Play Date Help
If I’m staying for thenplaydate then I usually bring something for everyone to snack on like fruit, cookies or munchkins. If I’m just dropping off, then I won’t bring anything.

I don't think I've ever had anyone bring anything but munchkins to a play date.

Same. Nor do I expect one when we have play dates here

Re: Play Date Help
I never gave or got gifts. Just a couple of times I sent DS with cookies, but that was when the play date was a 'favor' because I needed to do something (although I hosted some of those and didn't expect anything); or when it was an impromptu playdate and I knew the parent was hosting more than 3 kids in the house.
