Would like
value resort

Looking at sept 6/7th - sept 11th would take them out of school a day or 2. Its rosh hashanah...

Re: Disney in September

how many adults and how many kids?

i would say its doable, or at least really close depending on airfare. ( we've been going every year around that time, and thats about what we spend)

2 adults
2 tweens
1 teen

Kids have sadly never been. Adults have no desire to go but feel guilty...

haha yeah- everybody should go once Chat Icon anybody 10 and over gets charged adult prices as far as tickets and any buffet meals, etc.
but i would say $5000 is doable, or at least a really good ballpark- especially for a value hotel (which are still great!) You might want to look into Art of Animation suites- they have 2 bathrooms, which might be nice with 3 older kids. and i always buy disney gift cards with my Target Red Card- because you save 5% on them Chat Icon then you can use them pay for your whole trip Chat Icon

Since you have 5 people, you would have to book 2 rooms, or book a suite. 5 doesn't fit in a regular value room.

I totally agree with getting the Suite at AoA. The rooms are teeny-tiny.

ETA: Since your children are a little older, if you want less of a themed feel, the Swan and Dolphin are a good in-between, similarly priced.

It’s a pricey time.
Flight are $500 round trip those dates.
Just that will eat up your budget. I think you will price more like 5.5k for what you want. It’s not bad, but you could get more at other times of the year.

Doing just a quick search now on the Disney TAP, looks like those dates with room+tix+meal plan cost over 5k without airfare.

That's not a terrible price. Just know that you will be picked up from the resort to go to airport around 7am on the day you leave

I know you said on site. But we stayed at a hotel in celebration for $99/night. It was a 2 BR suite with full kitchen and LR. The amount of money we saved, covered the rental car and parking for the week. and we still saved. I did not feel like I missed out on anything because we were off site. We went as adults for the first time. It was an easy 15 min drive and park to Disney. We even had character reservations early in the am that we made on site the day before. Just something to consider.

I don’t know anything about that, but you can just uber to the airport whenever you need to be there. We did that when we were in Orlando since the hotel shuttle didn’t work for us time wise.

If you are staying onsite and use Disney’s magical express to get to and from the airport you will be picked up 3 hours before your flight time. So if your flight is at 11 am, they will pick you up at 11 am.

During times when Orlando airport is know to be busy they will pick you up 4 hours before your flight.

Look at hotels in downtown disney -- off site. All of them offer transportation and are likely to be less money. You can also do hotwire or priceline if you are willing to rent a car.

If you are open to it look around Veteran's Day to see if you can get any cheaper than 5k. We paid around $2600 for a 5 night stay, 3 day park tickets (non hopper), with meal package. This was for 2 adults, 1 kid and 1 infant, in a value resort. What was great was it was decorated for the holidays and the weather was warm but not blazing... it was around 75-80 degrees.

That’s a great flight price for 5! If that gives you enough days there, do it! Staying on site vs off site is so personal. It’s easier to stay on site. Not bad to be off site and you get more for your $ but on a short trip, may make sense to do it easier... unless you are on a real budget (I’ve stayed at nice hotels for $75 a night that included transportation to parks). MCO is a bit far from Orlando... but with Uber, it may be cheaper now.

The Not so scary party is during your dates! In planning, consider skipping a day pass and going to the party. It’s a LOT of fun, especially with kids that can stay up late and lines go down to nothing. Only negative is that time in September can be rainy (I’ve gone 2-3 years that week before kids started school).

Re: Disney in September

A lot of times in September its free dining. If you can land the free dining promo you can save a lot of money. We went last year in the 3rd week of September and airfare was more expensive than our disney stay. Look out for when they announce free dining.
