Hospital recommendation for mental health
You need to go to a hospital that has psychiatric emergency services for an evaluation to be admitted to places such as Mather or south oaks, you can’t just walk in. If you are near stony brook bring the patient to CPEP which can be done by calling 911. If you want to bring them on your own, you must bring them to the main ER then ask for a psych consult and they will decide if they should be brought over to CPEP. From there the doctors will evaluate and decide for admission most of the times it’s south oaks, stony brook, Brunswick, mater sometimes. Mather is a very small program with limited beds. Depends on the patients age where you are located and why they are going into treatment. I work in psychiatry feel free to message me if you have questions

I brought her to Stony Brook two years ago and she was transferred to south oaks and she has a bad experience so I don't think she would be willing to go back to Stony Brook

Re: Hospital recommendation for mental health
Someone I know went to Blue Sky in Danbury and did a program there. They were happy and seem to be in a good place since coming home. They went from South Oaks, but you may be able to navigate admittance without prior hospitalization.
