Anyone agree???
I really feel that regardless of who won the election, for anyone to spend MILLIONS of dollars on an inaugural ball with the state of the economy is just wrong
Im not saying the winner isnt entitled to celebrate, but I just see it as a slap in the face to the American public when people are struggling to pay their bills / mortgages

Re: Anyone agree???
I agree, even if it were McCain, its a poor choice right now. It would have been a good way to gain some more respect from people.

Re: Anyone agree???
If its privately financed, why wouldn't he? It is ONCE IN A LIFETIME! I'm not saying they should go crazy, but I would want a nice inauguration. Especially for a historic win.

I agree. Of course he should celebrate, it's a historic win. But no need to go crazy when some people can't feed their kids.

that's extremely unfair...and it must be easier for one to say that when they have "NObama" as their avatar

Re: Anyone agree???
I think that BOTH parties spent millions and millions of dollars on thier campaigns and spent the $ smearing the other candidates and defending themselves, and THAT money could have helped out America tremendously, instead of the both of them arguing over taxation amouts that come out of our pockets!

Well then why should anyone celebrate?
AFAIK, there have always been starving children...during other inaugurations as well

He is certainly entitled to his night - he made history. I am curious where the money is coming from, I assumed it came from already collected Party Funds.

Yea but the question was about this particular inauguration. And the economy was not in the toilet. Like I said, he has a right to celebrate, it was HISTORIC. But no need to go over the top, especially now.

Regardless of who you are referring to, why are you jumping on her and singling her out? Just because she chooses to declare her feelings about a particular candidate?

I throw a heck of a party for under $500.

Of course it has. But not at every single inauguration in history. Nothing against Obama, I'm actually starting to like the guy a little. Doesn't matter if Reagan himself came back and won, I just don't think it's appropriate now. JMO though. Everyone is entitled to theirs.
