4000 jews on 9/11. WTC working/employees don't go to work.
Why is it that so many people believe that over 4000 jews "WTC Employees" were notified not to report to work on September 11, 2001? This is the first I heard of this story/rumor...
Anyone else heard of this before?

I heard this A LOT in the weeks and months immediately following 9/11; it disgusted me then and it does now too; the "rumor" has been thoroughly discredited at all levels; I just think it's one of those "urban legends" that took hold at a time of profound fear for our city & country (fear=perfect fertilizer for ignorance IMHO).
THe theory tries to insinuate that "the Jews" were aware/in on the attacks, while nothing could be further from the truth; prior to the attacks the Israeli government and intelligence agency warned the US govt about the possibility of an imminent attack....

It may have started there but I'm disgusted by how much traction it gained among good ole middle class NYers (and other Americans), KWIM? I find the ignorance in that belief as offensive as the 'theory' itself.

That's actually one of the dilemma's the movie targeted - was Danny Pearl beheaded because he was American or because he was Jewish, or was it both?
I had actually never heard about this until I watched the movie tonight - but there was a lot I didn't know about the times surrounding 9/11.

At a High School in Ca they had a poll and 70 plus percent of the students said they didn't believe their ever was a Holocaust...

WHAT??? I don't get it... I really don't understand how people can deny that these atrocities happened. People just had numbers tatooed on them for the hell of it? Everyone in the concentration camps made up what happened? It is so sad and really maddening that people can deny this.

In the 80s, there was quite a bit of airplane terrorism. I remember seeing newscasts of terrorists holding pilots at gunpoint. Reports showed that these people would separate Jews from non-Jews on planes based on last names and kill them. I was to go to Italy with a high school class. I pulled out of the trip. My last name would have had me dead in a second.
Danny Pearl died with as much dignity as any man in his unfortunate position could. He did not deny his faith. May he rest in peace.
